Suggestion Rule for Advertisement/Download threads

I don't understand the logic of this thread nor the people's logic involved in the discussions at all. Since the very first beginning of OtLand people has been releasing stuff that has been "leaked", "shared" or even "hacked" - some of the stuff was of course deleted instantly (more or less) when it was noticed, but the truth is that even moderators have and are approving leaked, shared or hacked content in the download section. Now, if you browse through the download section of the forum you will notice that there is some heavy stuff there, complete datapacks of servers that are currently online are as of now available to download - and my point here is that you don't decide to go apeshit crazy and try to enforce new rules until someone who probably shared his map with someone not so trusted sees a small piece of his map in another server with a playerbase of 25 players?

If this forum is going to boycott all the threads that in some way contains stolen content we might as well say good bye to the community already, because the truth is that most of the datapacks released on this forum contains scripts/maps that has been stolen at one point.

tl;dr - This community consists of what we call "kids", if you want your stuff to NOT be shared among others you might want think through who the **** you share it with.

The map was tracked, not shared.
Honestly, if we are ok with the fact that people track and use maps from other servers, who will ever create a custom map server knowing it will probable be stolen when the server goes online?
Not only that, all posts about it were removed by Peroxide over and over (undeleted by other mods because it was just information about the server).

I won't feel motivated working on custom maps for servers knowing if it gets stolen (including the credits) I can't do anything about it (even not posting about it on the thread) and my work will be basicly for nothing.

Well, this is not an efficient way of fighting it really - try to find a solution that will not allow tracking but still isn't custom client perhaps.

If it was that easy people would already done that. Also it's not like these things happen that often.
The least we could do is show that otland is not ok with it and that there will be consequences like closing or deleting the thread if there is enough proof.

Actually, the stolen map was removed the first time, I've checked if it was still there with a bot when was it got closed and it was, later when I checked it again it was removed.
The posts about it were removed by Peroxide and a few weeks later Extrodus added it again as updates for the greenshore area, which he posted in the thread and on the site like he was making them and there was simply no way for it to not be noticed.
So people started to post about it again and the posts got deleted again by Peroxide, this time without promise from Extrodus to remove it again.
Now when the thread got deleted and later created again, he did remove the parts from greenshore as he said in that conversation. However, he readded the stolen map as 1 of the 3 unique new cities that was advertised in the advertisement thread.

As you can see here, 6 custom cities, Gengia, Oken, Pyre and 3 new cities. Elerium is the stolen map.

This person is obviously just a troll, because if he really cared about his server he wouldn't have added that stolen map (which was barely used) again to his real map server knowing what kind of effect that would have.

I've deleted the thread again. If you're going to delete the parts of the map at "a later date", then don't post the thread before that "later date" because it violates our rules.

What rule does it violate exactly? I'm not saying it's not violating a rule, but is there a rule difference when it comes to real maps & custom maps?

Basically what has been said in this thread. There isn't any rule difference for any kind of map. If the copyright holder of the map claims that someone is using it without their permission, it will be taken down.

The map is not accessible, I went through Extrodus's map today and checked the positions of players, they lead to blank areas that had no map.
However the Boat NPC still says Elerium although you can not actually travel to it. (Script line needs to be edited @Extrodus).

I also sign to this but what happens if the owner sells the map to someone and then telling other people that he stole it ?

That post is old and he was talking about adding the map, not making it accessible or not. The acces was removed from the thais boat npc but you could still go there from the tp room.

Instead of making it inaccessible for now, just remove the map.
The character of the screens has now a wrong temple position, the other character that was there on the stolen map yesterday but not on the screens has been send to the thais temple, so the map is probable still there.
This will be my last post here, I'm done with it.

That would make that person a scammer, so it would be basicly like other scam situations.

We don't allow selling/buying of OpenTibia resources on OTLand, so we will assume that the sale didn't happen.
