I have not been working on Cyntara for the past month because I have been way too focused on my real life. A girlfriend, grades (third quarter, second semester, the hardest quarter of the year), and Cyntara hasn't had a good programmer for a while, so many bugs haven't been addressed yet.
I sincerely apologize for all of these. But I am not leaving you, and I am not gone, I am just absent for this small amount of time. Right now, I was partying with some of my friends, Green has been with me in Ventrilo (along with tolerating my bullshit) and the server should be secure. At this moment, I'm in no condition to be able to figure why the server is acting this way, nor who or what caused it.
What we do know, is, somebody hacked the phpmyadmin for our server, they accessed the database with all of your account numbers and passwords and all the sole information for Cyntara. The website is still online, so what I can suggest is, CHANGE YOUR ACCOUNT INFORMATION! - The database is secure now and the password is unknown to me due to the fact that there MAY be a keylogger on the computer I am operating Cyntara's internal work on (my home desktop computer) and only Green knows the information. I suggest you change your account information to prevent hacking or future damage.
Green will post more information if provided, I realize a series of bugs have been abused and there are some things not working correctly at the moment, best comes to worst, we MAY have to restart the server, wipe the players, and make sure all donations are legit.
What did the hacker do?
The hacker turned everybody into a Gamemaster. Not a full-blown admin but a Gamemaster. This strikes me as odd due to the reason that perhaps the hacker was not intelligent enough to set all the players to admins, nor have the knowledge to do so, but smart enough to execute php queries and erase all traces of evidence finding him.
We cannot find anything at the moment that would point our fingers at a certain person, but I am certain that once I ... well, recover from this ill mental state that I will be clear-minded and be able to figure out something more.
For now, Cyntara will be OFFLINE for 12-24 hours. This is the first time in Cyntara history that this has ever happened. But it is completely necessary for us to flush the corruptness from the server. It will take 12 hours for me to regain my consciousness and sleep, and another 12 to purge the server of all the wrong that has been committed tonight.
Everybody that was given a GM outfit has been turned into a badger. You may keep the outfit or change it, but I cannot let everybody look like a GM.
Also, everybody was given 60,000 donation points.
This was quickly ended upon realization.
I don't know what else to say, and to be honest I don't know if I could recap anything I said, so with that I'll say goodnight, and I will be on this tomorrow. I appreciate all bug reports, problems, or anyone that knows anything about who may have hacked the server. The server will be offline until tomorrow and feel free to enjoy your day away from Cyntara.
