I know, this isn't the right section or something, but I was wondering..

If I bought something from Vapus, would it have any effect on me if I released it here on OTLand for free? I mean, it's not in the rules, and each website is completely unaffiliated..

I'd suppose there would be 1 pissed of guy.
And beside it's not that nice to release some paid stuffs..
Unless this was a "one-time-sell-item" or how to call it.

Well yes, he probably would be pissed, and yes it is mean, but it is possible within the current rules o.0

As long as there is no VAPUS link found ANYWHERE in the release or in your thread.

Shouldn't be a problem as long as you are not selling copyrighted material.

The only thing that comes close is..

5. Sensitive data:
You may not share sensitive data of other users without their permission. Sensitive data includes passwords, private e-mails and IP-addresses. Posting sensitive data could lead to an instant banishment.

But it says nothing from buying from a different website, or if the other person does not have an OTLand account he or she isn't technically a user lol.

You can't post vapus links without editing them, so it's not really a vapus link o.0

Yea, I figured that, i know you can't do that. But I doubt that people would go around and copyright datapacks lol

But whatever you're releasing could contain VAPUS links.

It does not violate our rules.

There's not much you can do, piracy is everywhere.

Well yes, ofcourse, but if they post something on here, the thread can be deleted if it was in our rules, but if it was not, there isn't anything we could do.
Just to be more protected..

Should it be added though? I mean, people might do the same for our marketplace o.0

That's up to the buyer in my opinion, when you buy something it should be yours to do whatever you want with. If we create and enforce rules that prevent you from sharing something you have bought in a marketplace we will end up with a community where everyone wants to sell their work - by making it harder for them to do so we can instead encourage them to share their work and gain reputation at the same time as they are contributing to the open community. I'm pretty sure OpenTibia was not created with the intention to fill kids pockets with money, but to create an open (free and open-source) alternative to Tibia and I want to keep it that way. You are not violating any rule on OtLand by sharing something you have bought, but you might be breaking real law if you agreed not share it when you purchased it (or if it comes with a license preventing you from doing so), if not; then you don't even have to worry about that.

I wish this was still true, such a sad approach we have come to.

I'm not saying anything that I would go around and sell anything.. I hate doing that, I feel much more better whenever I'm giving it out for free..

I just fall in love with tala's protek posts xD!

If its not breaking the rule to share stuff from VAPus why is it illegal to share elf's war system? Just curious, no hatin'..

Because it's copyrighted under Swedish Law, or whereever he is from o.0 Norway or Sweden. One of the two lol
