It's too many RL maps!

Hi guys!

Am i the only one who thinks otservlist is spammed with bad quality real map servers?
Especially in the higher clients like 10.35+.
I mean, why even try making a good RL server when shadowcores is so dominating?
It feels like alot of people are too lazy to create own maps/scripts and monsters.
Im so sick and tired of all these rl maps with 10-20 players online.
Try to make something unique like custom map, evolutions remake, or some kind of gameplan.

evo servers were good when people tried to make something by them selves it didn't always looked nice but the imagination that put in there was awesome..
Now they only download/paste spawns and maps...

scripts only from website

and nothing is selfmade anymore.. which was awesome even how nooby somethings are you didn't get stuck in the same routine...

However like i said before we should stop supporting those kind of servers

Questions and Answer.

There is more answer then questions and most of them aren't fair too either just receiving money and leaving.
On the other hand people have seen enough of the same servers and calling themselves custom but all those so called custom real servers got the same copied scripts/maps from here.

The problem is either they prefer copying instead of learning and when they want something they didn't want to learn they go ask for support.
Some of them does nothing besides that... well tell me is that person then any part of our community?

You aren't allowed to post at all if you already got in the fire field. I am not supporting rl map at all..
I am working on mine project solo for 5 years now. I hate rl maps, i hate stages, i hate the same routine, i hate the download/run/replay, i hate pay2play, i hate having fun 2 days later gone, i hate botters.

@Lagmacun - Since the community has grown so much there will of course be alot of people just coming here for free support and then leave once they've got it. But lets not forget about the people who are making big contributions to the community and not getting anything back in return, I'm talking about TFS developers, OtLand support team, OtLand moderators and people in general who contributed with other useful content to make the community better, these people are still around.

On another note, I think Printers real map project is the reason we see so many real maps out there right now .

Ive seen over thousands of these threads of people complaining about real maps. But the thing is that they dont create customs cause of;

• Lacking skills for mapping/scripting
• They want money
• They want a high playerbase
• They dont wanna spend alot of time to create a server

The big community peoples, like otland, otlist and such can all stop supporting download/run/crap server

The answer to why there's so many Rl maps, its because creating something from scratch, or even from an already existing Evo/YourOTS/Etc, its not so easily done, It takes time. Most people come from Real tibia and they are used to it, they just want to play their old map and enjoy it with friends, being Gms and stuff. Then there is the other thing, they want money from nothing(Who doesn't).

Look at what happened to Otfans, by stopping supporting RL maps they stop having traffic at all, so that won't do.

Download the 10.37? github project rlmap
Follow znotes tutorial on how to install a server and donate systems
Have your computer on for 10-15 days
Reinstall database

The last 2 steps are the same all the time, open source isen't always as good as ppl say.

I still don't understand people who compare the tibia map with a custom map.
Have you guys ever thought about that Tibia exists since 1997, I'd be surprised to see 200 custom map servers with a size of the Tibia map.
It requires months up to years of mapping, scripting and testing stuff, until it's quality is acceptable, so how can you expect people to build projects out of nowhere in a short ammount of time.
You have to keep in mind that not all people in this community are little spoiled kids who sit 24/7 infront of their pc and have the time ammount (which is required) to pull something big of in a short ammount of time.

Money destroyed the entire community, why you ask? almost all Developers I've met the past (8 or 9 years) from Tibiafans / Otfans / TibiaUG or whichever homepage it was.
Pretty much said, that they do not want to support a community which just cares for the money, then complains 24/7 for no bugfixes but doesn't even bother to learn or help on something.
They all dedicated their time into this community, keeping it alive and trying their best to maintain the actual distros or tools.
The feedback which they received back then from people using their software was by far different then it is today, people where happy for the smallest ammount of changes, even when sometimes they didn't 100% work.
Then people started making money of their ots, seeing that it is a good source of income.
However once money flows in such a community, greed and competition will come with it, as you want to have the most up to date or unique server to make the most money out if it.
That way, people started complaining 24/7 to developers that stuff does not work or the server crashes and they shall fix it.
Yet, the funny thing is the people who actualy done the work havn't had anything for it in return, just the opposite even more greedy people who where to dumb to setup a server and cried then afterwards in the forum that it's bugged and does not work.
The least you want to hear as a Developer is that your product is bugged, when it's clear that the fault is on the side of the complainer.
Ofcourse it's tiring to see rl map servers, but that stone has been rolling now for so long, that you cannot stop it just by your single hand, it requires several.
