I don't seem to get it though, how is a server in South America 'fairer' for everyone? The chance that I'll be lagging on such a host is as high as the chance of Southern America Players lagging on a EU host.

It seems like it's not fairer for everyone, it just creates an advantage for American players over EU players. A proxy is a fine solution, but changing the host to anywhere in America is just suicide for a server like Originaltibia, since as said before: his most popular servers were European ones and the European oldschool community still seems to be bigger.

Why not? Ping base around 200 and using proxy will get about 120 - 150, like us. That's playable in Tibia 8.00.
Of course that in older Tibias an "universal" server makes non-sense, there's a NEED to be hosted in Europe, that's not the case.
You're just looking at yourself, you don't know what is to play with 190 - 230 WITH proxy in these European servers.

I will say again: the fair thing is to make a server located in USA, and a proxy for everyone, it will be very playable for all.

The server will be playable for everyone, but not in the way you want it to be. This isn't selfish, this solution brings the best ping to both sides, if you change the host to just being in North America you'll lose a big chunk of European players. You do not seem to get that, you're underestimating the European player base of Fribben, and instead are trying to attack me personally since you know I'm right about the fact that the host won't change and that a proxy for you will help you.

I want to know too. I personally don't see any problem in it since that will not be any anti-bot system, "manual detection" is ridiculous, and everyone will use, that's inevitable.

Actually fribben should think in hosting next time in brazil or around and check the results compared to this edition, in europe the are many good hosters offering +or- the same and as some real lowrates are about to start the european ot community will be focused on those servers, lets say... 50% spectrum, 15% classocus and the rest on the other servers? Dark ot, classictibia realots,classictibia remere, originaltibia, others..
If european ot community is 1000 players for example (i think is much less) you can calculate approx whats about to happen. Aiming for american players, in this case south and center america, theres a huge forgotten community that in the point of view of a hoster should be considered as worthy or more than what you can expect from europe. Less hosters to compete, less or lower quality server files, etc...
Just try it out heh... if i had the knowledge to host or atleast cipsoft files 7.72 i would inmediatelly
