despite having "latest" content, that server is nothing like shadowcores used to be :/
Saw so many threads about Hexana,Hexera and Shadowcores.
What was so special about those servers that doesn't exist on the huge available list of real map servers atm (I never played any of them)
I can see 100+ real map servers online with different content/stages/clients, Yet people still not satisfied and missing those 3 servers can't understand why

The timing of these projects was perfect. They were the only ones with map trackers at the time, and obviously Mark is an amazing programmer which allowed them to achieve what most can’t.

Agree that it's incredibly up to date and stable. Another gaming experience for sure, still.

-> Make a global medium rates server with US/EU hosting in multiple worlds.
-> Pay mild attention to bugs that exist on release and fix them in a few years.
-> Add genuinely uninteresting, time gated content that takes away the life from the game.
-> Wait for global medium rates server under you to die and inevitably have their players migrate to your server.
-> Open up a shop and start taking donations for purely cosmetic gear but add in game tokens.
-> Don't enforce bans for selling in game donation token for real money in any way.
-> Instigate VenezeulanRuneTrade.jpg
-> Make $500 in a month.
-> Buy Hexera files.
-> Open up new server.
-> ???
-> Profit.

But is it REALLY worth any money? Don't expect to copy a server and be able to maintain its infrastructure and backbone as well. There is a lot more that goes into running a video game than just the actual in-game content.

You're right. But you forget that more than 90% of us that develop OT Servers are amateur devs. It takes years of practice to get to the level of the devs like Mark or Evil Punker, Hani, etc... Most of them are gone now working in their regular 9-5 job because this brings them no money. It's a great place to learn. A lot of us are working those 9-5 jobs because of the OT community development.
Every so often we have servers pop up that are professionally developed, like Shadowcores. But is that dev's time developing a Tibia OT worth it to him if he's working for some huge FAANG company? Absolutely not monetarily, only for fun. We grew up and we all like money. Example, OTClientV8. Our greed is making the community die. One for us not wanting to spend money on OTs, but also the devs charging money for premium time, in game items, etc. Over time, money will destroy the community.
