You could implement a compression algorithm on the packet send/receive messages, but I doubt you would get much smaller for most packets, only full tile updates with lots of items would get smaller, the others would actually probably get larger due to how small they are to start with.
It seems to me as if you don't have your buttons placed inside your scrollable area. You should try placing them inside of it.
(I think you need to space your 'buttons' section over until its "farther" than the scrollable section)
In the server this information is already loaded, items should have a clientid property you can access.
If you don't know how to get this information, in the protocol section of the server, it has to send client id's of sprites, so you should be able to pick a function where items are sent to...

We have had 10-15 players online almost every time of day I've checked the past week or so (this is up from the 2-3 average we've had online for the past few months), and we also have a vent server to lounge in (we have 5-10 on it in US prime time).

The general feel we were going for was what Nikodada stated.
It encourages you to go hunt higher monsters then your level in groups for lots of xp, instead of hunting really easy monsters by yourself. Though the latter is still very useful because some monsters ALWAYS give some bonus xp.
Heres a big update(about 2.5 weeks in the making) has alot of new stuff and fixes etc. Not everything was finished, but we are at our deadline so here it goes.

We ARE the original TDS Team (Ghorre doesn't help any more though), but that original TDS Custom Client wasn't required and neither is our current one. And yes you can use 8.5 - 8.52 clients to connect to our server.
