CIPSOFT 7.72 PROJECT
Open Tibia Server 7.72

Introduction:
When I think about my best times playing Tibia my mind always send me back to year 2005, when CIPSOFT released the 7.6 version. I miss the old wars, the fear to go hunting in wild nature, and the good old friends I made on that time.I have not experienced that feeling again.

This is what I had in mind when I started this project. Bring back a server where I can play like in old times.

We would not rush to launch this server. We don't work on it to make money. We started the project one year ago, as a server for family and friends, and now we have a long way to go to solve even the smallest bug.

We want to share our advances with you in this thread.

Thanks for watching.

Planned Features:
- Beta Stages: We aim to launch a closed beta stage with old school players by invite only. Second stage will be a public beta where we aim to fix the final bugs, balance systems and test the server stability to prepare for final release.
- Add features not present on RL 7.72 version: We have some suggestions about, add Pits of Inferno Quest (or PoI Dragon Lair), add a Rashid like NPC, autostack items, add bank system (balance, transfer, etc. and pay rent houses with bank balance) and Task System. We are open to add changes but they have to improve the ingame experience without unbalance vocations or PVP.
- All NPC, books and signs will be there: We are working to have all books, all signs and NPCs working as it was on 2005 Real Tibia. All NPC dialogs, all libraries filled and all signs with correct text.
- All quests working: We want the quest to be like the real thing. We aim to get the quests working exactly as it was on 2005 Real Tibia.

Some screens:
Our first goal was to get a decent engine to work, now we have one:

Well, thanks for let me in. This project is amazing.
You always helped me when I needed, now it's time to help you make the best server to remember 7.6 times.

beta will be high rate - how about normal version ? smth like 2x/3x?
Not decided yet. It depends on feedback from people.

(Edited, see below: Our high rate is kinda special. You kill a monster, you always get normal experience (1x, so a dragon gives you 700 exp like always), but the experience needed for next level is reduced from normal rates.
For example:
You'll gain level 8, 200 times faster than original Tibia.
And around level 50 you'll level 30 times as fast.
But after level 100, you'll only level 6x faster.)

We are changing our mind about this point. We want the best experience for our players, and firts beta testers will be testing different rates to set the perfect ones for 7.72 version. All of them will be old school players with RL Tibia experience.

I want to share a pic of the two brand new servers I'm working on for this project:

Specs:
8 core Xeon servers
32 GB RAM
Raid 5 SAS HD
Hosted on the Datacenter I work as Sysadmin.

2,5 is ideal exp rate :p is it gonna take u more than 3 months to launch it if i can ask ?

We'll release it when it's ready.
You can check advances on trello board

We like Tibia as it is, the rates are perfect if you think about to enjoy all phases of the game. But we know that almost all the people joining OT Servers are tired of grinding to exp and want to start wars quickly.
If you want a successful server for long time you need low rates, it's about game design. If you had high rates for exp you need to reset once every X months or server will die. There is no enough places to exp on older versions for really high levels. You need to add custom hunts for them to enjoy the server.
We want to get feedback from beta testers, and then decide to go with low/mid/high rates.

Not decided yet. It depends on feedback from people. If they like the high rate system we implemented we can make two servers, one high rate, another in near original rates (1x, 2x or 3x)

well my advice to u is still to display the stages on server information for example, i really dislike these "normal experience" servers that dont tell u what the exp stages are

Our high rate mode doesn't have stages as usual, we modified the exp table. We can add a exp table on website if we decide to go highrate after beta stage.

It could be changed though right? The original owner of RealOTs (7.72 cipsoft server) did it with items and outfits:

https://otland.net/threads/netherlands-realots-7-7-100mb-s-dedicated.87063/

I was just asking because the 8.0 sprs look better to me.
8.0 version doesn't differ so much from 7.72, the biggest change it's the revamp of venore and some outfits and items. But we like the feeling when we play on a "stock" 7.72 server.
We can surely change some sprites, but we like 7.72 version "as it is". All of us played that version a lot and was our best time in Tibia, it's something related to nostalgia.
We can add some 8.0 things like PoI, etc, but first we want a "perfect" recreation of 7.72 state, enter a beta stage and take the feedback of beta testers about make or not any change.

Things that we will probably add that wasn't on 7.72 can be:
- Bank System (balance, deposit, transfer, pay house with balance instead of putting money on house's town depot)
- Lure monsters anywhere (we like the fear of wild encounters like GS on dwarf bridge)

How accurate will the server be compared to a cipsoft server? Details how NPCs work, how monsters act in certain situations, how floor reset work etc. Could you provide more details regarding these type of details?

We'll try to do our best. This kind of things are now similar to other 7.72 servers, we are working on systems like quests, food system, spell & runes, etc. to get a point near 7.72 Cipsfot version.
Some other things need more work on sources.
There is a lot of work to do until open beta.

Okay, thanks for the respond. Good luck with your server!

To me it differs a lot, I feel that the better, more modern graphics would draw in newer players and the old ones would alienate them, and I don't think nostalgia should be a selling point of any game like this one. Imo, style draws in new players, and substance keeps the old ones and art style is a huge part of style.

Having said that, if you make a good game, I wouldn't mind playing it regardless of that 1 preference, depending on just how good it turns out to be. Bank system seems nice.
