Using blender to create sprites...

I'm no pixel artist, and to me the sprites I have posted look fine (especially the last walk cycle). Others have said they need touch ups. The advantage of using 3D is that you can create a single model, and then you can animate it as needed. So creating new frames once you have the model is pretty quick in comparison. This is the reason that you don't hardly see any traditional animation anymore. With the limited amount of animation that Tibia uses, you might be better off using 2D skills if you have them and are starting from scratch. This doesn't take into account using existing models. For instance, there are hundreds of models from Dragonball, Naruto, or any other franchise that has related video games available that are already animation ready, and those could be of use to any of the servers based around that franchise.

However, and this, to me, is the most important bit about using 3D. It makes it accessible to a broader pool of people because it allows someone with a different skill set (i.e. me) to still create content.

I think it's super useful, you gain a lot of workflow on animations, and as you said, bring people opportunity to still create good content :)
But i'm not sure if 3D can surpass pixel art in terms of painting quality (at least by what I saw on all people who tried it).

I still want to see more characters and things in 3D, keep doing it!

The angle of his head seem interesting approach for moving.
The chest doesn't move, however I know you'll fix it soon.

"Fixing" things doesnt really help unless you provide information what's wrong with the sprite and why did you edit it the other way.

While arm and leg movements are acceptable(tho could use some work not to look so straight), cause we humans also bend our limbs(ie. the knee
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) or elbow)t when we move. Moreover, head shouldnt stay in one position, it moves up/down all the time.

Thanks for showing us you're good at looking some walking tutorials on internet. I'm curious where did you see an edit here.

Anyway, I didn't make a complete criticism as I usually do because he's aware of how to fix it, as he did it here:

Thanks for the critiques. Part of the reason for the lack of head movement was because I was attempting to emulate regular tibia sprites. In the ones I have seen, it is mostly the arms and legs that move. The torso and head usually are static.
Here is an attempt at a more natural walk cycle.

haha man this is so cool, i love how you found another way to do tibia sprites
keep it up! :p

It is a png. I don't know if imgur altered it. I don't see the telltale artifacts that jpgs have, except that some of the transparency is aliased which kind of gives it that look.

Just because its not clean doesnt make it jpg. Jpg wont let something look sharp, and this thing is as hell ;)
when i see a noisy not clean sprite my first assumption is that it's jpg, big deal, my bad then

No need to apologize. I am trying to do something unique and now that I know what you were asking about with JPG I can see what you were talking about. That said, this sprite in particular was a very quick thing I did five minutes before I had to go to work so I didn't take any time at all to try aligning it to pixel boundaries. I will see if I can make it a little clearer.
