hello, i would like to do a little research now, I'm interested in how much of you people would like to play tibia, that's not pay2win? i mean that all u can do is to donate for the server to keep going, free premium account, in time quests for outfits and mounts that was before sold by cipsoft, I'm capable of hosting such server, and keep it going for few months, its just matter of players, that i would like to see on the server

also the plan is to provide the server by long time so the exp rate should be 1x, but if there will be a lot of people that would like to level up quicker, and fight or just role play on higher level faster there could be another world, that would never be transferable

so you want to open a rl map which isnt p2w and without premium? or how should I understand it? If its a rl map then no thanks :)

You cannot pretend that EVERYONE agrees that all games should be free, simply because a vast amount of people are willing to pay for even the deluxe edition of games.


Some people want a free 2 play game with nothing to buy. But that can only be offered as a charity, because real servers, and real games need to acquire money to be able to succeed.
 
Pay for boosts, or premium, or for cosmetics is fine.
Even paying for specific items that just offer convenience is fine.

You cannot pretend that EVERYONE agrees that all games should be free, simply because a vast amount of people are willing to pay for even the deluxe edition of games.

im used to hate archlight man because owner is retard and super pay2win... but having retarded donations like that is required for sucesful customs servers.

"Pay to Progress" is the best way to do a server where you can buy stuff.

Like the Prey Tasks in Real Tibia. You can spend TONS of in-game (and tibia-coin) money re-rolling tasks for a 2 hour boost hunting a single monster.
Do you have any idea how much money that single system has SUCKED out of the economy? Trillions and Trillions of gold.

I myself spend millions on it, Is it profitable to do? No. Is it fun and make you feel better when you have those active? Hell yes!
Does it give a super-unfair advantage? Not really.
 
Pay to win is something else as pay to advance. They shouldn't become OP once they have the full "super uber elite package" from the shop, their leveling should just be eased.

9/10 games wouldn't exist (or be able to continue production) without the playerbase supporting it with money in some way.

You just changed the subject here. What i was talking about was paying real Life Money to get stronger in a game. No matter what game it is.
If you get a exp boost - you advance in level faster, get stronger faster than everyone else - p2w.
If you buy a weapon stronger than anything that you normally would have at that level - p2w.
If you get a mount that is faster, even slightly than normal mounts, you get around faster and you get there and finish the job faster - p2w.

This is how Open Tibia handles it.

What you are talking about is paying for stuff in-game for in-game currency. Which is totally fine. I agree with you. If you have the gold you fought for, go ahead. spend it on all possible means to help you advance faster. You earned it.
 
In my opinion, it is extremely difficult to maintain and develop a good game without some type of reward in return.

Why? That is the nature of who we are. Unless you have exorbitant amounts of resources (or money) and can afford to give your time for nothing, you will want something in return for the work you are doing. Quality will diminish over time and the game will very likely be unsuccessful without a ROI.

That being said, I’ll never dedicate months or even years of my life to a game where it is clear all they are after is money. You can tell who cares and who is genuinely passionate about what they’re trying to accomplish. No matter the type of game; no matter how popular. The best games, in my opinion, focus on community and quality. Selling consumable items (aka. boosts), premium services, etc. is acceptable to me because I understand a developers mindset: you want something in return for your hard work and dedication.

It’s quite obvious what is “pay to win” and what isn’t. But you’ll more than likely never find an extensive, greatly developed and well-maintained game which doesn’t create or generate some form of revenue. We’re all trying to make it in this world.

Changes nothing about the actual reward of the task, it isn't a super-unfair advantage.

If Premium only gave you a 10% exp boost, and 3% less exp lost on death. Would it make it so you HAVE to have premium to be good and be able to compete at Tibia? Of course not.

But Premium instead gives you access to all the good hunting spawns (more than half the world) and all the necessary spells for PvP and for the game to actually be fun. But is it pay to win? I would still say no, it's more "Pay to Play".


Pay to Win in my opinion, is if you easily defeat someone today. And then tomorrow they easily defeat you because they spent a lot of money. Small Boosts and minor benefits are not pay to win. Even if they do technically help you get more powerful faster. You still have to play the game and put forth effort to "win" in those situations, it isn't Wallet Vs Wallet.
 
Sorry guys u got it all wrong, i mean to provide server with loot and exp on 1x , I want to bring up back that kind of server where u cannot get money in game almost instantly when u need it, u will have to get that hunting weak monsters, u will have to fight on PvP server so u can advance in game becouse of no option to transfer away, for me I would like to go back a lil to programming and getting better little by little so I could improve myself the server little by little taking suggestions from players playing this server, having no premium features makes it a lil harder for someone that is rich get control over server and that is also nice

Im 99% sure such a server wouldnt stay alive for long if you ask me

20+ y old people nowadays prefer to work/go out with people than spend countless hours trying to get boh on ots. They prefer to spend some money and have fun than hunting monsters for hours to have fun in pvp (no money for runes/pots = no fun, u have to kill easy monsters to make profit)

The thing is that servers need to profit, pay the dedicated host; must be a really good one because if there's a single DDoS attack, the players are going to kill your private messages that they are going to quit the server.
So basically, there must be a way for the server to pay the dedicated host and to also profit a bit for the owner.
