The time has come for the Open Beta phase - which we have worked very hard to arrive at! After several months in Alpha and Closed Bate test phases, getting constant feedback from our very helpful community, we now have a good base for a game! We would like to invite everyone to join us on Sands of Time, influence the game's direction and shape the way it goes! If you would like to try something new and just watch as the game evolves - you are most welcome too of course! Our systems have undergone functional testing and are now stable. It was a steep learning curve during which we have learnt many valuable lessons! Now that we have a good portion of our game mechanics complete, join us to experience the rapid growth and expansion of content. During the Open Beta we plan to focus on adding depth, expanding content and variety to the game, building on top of our strong foundations! More systems are planned, more new things are still in the works, but we can finally generate content in a good pace to give you all a new, unique and enjoyable gaming experience!

Q. What can we expect out of Open Beta?
A. As the game is stable, you can expect new content on a regular basis. Also expect a new experience and learning period of our unique mechanics.

Q. When does it start?
A. Friday, March 27th, 20:00 CET / 11:00 PT

Q. Is the game Pay2Win?
A. We have set a goal for ourselves to avoid Pay2Win at all cost. Our plan is to mainly maintain the development with cosmetic items, such as skins/outfits/auras/wings and comfort items that save time for those who can't play as much. We listen to feedback and if something feels too strong we will remove it and refund those who bought it.

Q. What version is the server?
A. A custom version we make. A download link to our custom client will be posted on the website and in Discord.

Q. What type of server it is?
A. We are aiming to find the balance between the RPG feeling of exploration and not wasting your time! There are waypoints you can use around the world, but most have to be discovered first.

Q. How many custom items does the game have?
A. Counting tiles, walls, sets, nature and more, we have close to 5,000 custom sprites to work with.

Q. What map are you using?
A. A custom map we are creating and constantly expanding.

Q. What's the IP Address to login?
A. None, our client will be the only one able to connect.

Q. Where's the host located?
A. For now in Europe, France.

Q. How long will this Open Beta phase last?
A. Minimum of 3 months, going longer as we see fit. 6 months is a safe period to assume at this point.

Q. Will shop be enabled during Open Beta? If so, what happens to my points when you reset for launch?
A. Yes, shop will be enabled. On launch, points will be given back to the account from all testing phases (including Betas!).

Q. Will characters and items be deleted?
A. Characters and items will be wiped. Account will stay and be gifted with unique rewards based on past help in testing phases (including Open Beta!).​

Looks interesting, could you share any videos with gameplay?
As I'm not fan of evo servers, the part I'm concerned with are waypoints/teleports. I hope a lot of stuff is not available from beginning, so player has to find them first to then be able to access them quicker. I can get over tps to hunting grounds, but tps to quests take all fun from exploration away ;/
 
@wild345 We have focused heavily on rpg feeling and exploration. Waypoints have to be discovered first to be used, but they exist as we understand the OT community is mostly adults, with little and very valuable time on their hands and we don't want people walking 15 minutes each way every time.
@JohanSander The potential is amazing, that is why i recently joined the project. Whatever isn't great is going to be very quickly changed, hence the alpha phase ;)

This is something we will put great emphasis on. There may be semi-afk things, like crafting or other things that run in the background, but we are very fond of the active gameplay approach. Its about you playing, not a program running another program.

Personally I don't tolerate any kinds of bots (and surely I'm not the only one), so this unfortunately disqualifies your server in my eyes. I hope you'll consider changing the rules in this regard.
 
There are no bots. What I said is crafting a good item may take a while, and it will run in the background. We wont have the character be stuck in crafting for 30 minutes, unable to play.
For bots I assume you mean 3rd party softwares that play for you - this will not be a thing in this project and we will be enforcing it.
I am also very much against bots, pro active play.
I hope this clarifies it for you.

There is no "portal room" with everything available, there are lots of things that need to be unlocked, explored and delved into. Currently the plan is to have some zones open with a progressive level, others available through quests, exploration, etc.

We decided that ease of access to most zones was fairly important, since down time traveling usually isn't fun by most people's standards, and certainly isn't fun if you don't have lots of time to play. Instead we've focused more on gameplay style that allows you to run out, smash some skulls, collect some loot and head back, all within your own time frames.

Personally I don't tolerate any kinds of bots (and surely I'm not the only one), so this unfortunately disqualifies your server in my eyes. I hope you'll consider changing the rules in this regard.

We definitely have no plans for bots, or anything that actually promotes AFK gameplay. MOST folks don't enjoy afk gameplay, and really only see it as a way to continually advance even if your attention is needed elsewhere.

To clarify, I didn't mean just the afk bots. A bot that heals you automatically or a bot that rotates you whenever you cast a wave spell require you to be physically playing, but harm the server nevertheless – I hope using them will be a bannable offense as well.
 
I like your approach in putting it in Alpha first.
Your server looks like it's ready to play if you omit "subject to change".
A very honest plan and I hope you succeed because of this.
This means any negative (unfair) attitude is meaningless.

I hope you have enough friendly staff to handle the feedback.
I am sure there will be a lot of criticism/ideas bouncing around.

Lookins very interesting! Im curious if the attacking system will be hotkeys (Tibia 8+) or oldschool style?
