Tibiantis - reversed old Tibia project - discussion thread

Pretty quiet over here lately, but it's never quiet in the 'office' :)

Since many people keep asking about release date, we'd like to clarify a few things.

We never promised it would surely come online on the Christmas. We said that was our initial plan, but since the very beginning we were also putting it straight it was not our main priority. Creating an authentic, bug-free and fair gameplay has always been our priority high above anything else. No matter how long it takes.
For those, who wonder, it's not as easy as press 'run' and voila. Tibiantis is not some lazy download & run pack, most of the work we had to do by ourselves, even the tools we're using. For example we had to highly customize the sources of map editor, because we were not satisfied with any available real maps' conversions, as they all had some more or less minor errors. And we faced many things like that.
We could ignore them and rush to launch it as fast as possible, even tomorrow, but that was never the point.
We don't want to host 10 "it will be better this time" editions and ask people for another, another and yet another chance. We want to start it once and for all. That's why we can't promise any date, before we can fully ensure it is 100% ready.

So if Tibiantis has had attracted your interest in some way, don't get it flow away while waiting. What we can promise for sure is that you're not waiting for nothing :)

The current state of the project is following: we should be able to launch a test server by the end of this year (somewhere in Christmas-New Year's Eve time). It will be stricte TEST server. Means it should not be treated as "high rate edition" with alot of players in a rat race or anything, just a simple test server. Its purpose is to let players test the authentic 7.4 mechanics to verify that our posts about recreating it in every detail were not just some airy-fairy advert fable, but also to let them share their opinions on what maybe should or should not be changed in the final release.
Once the test server is open, we will start the actual advertising-campaign. During that time we will also be gathering opinions, finishing all the custom changes and content, testing hosting machine, and other stuff needed for the final release. It will be the last phase of our project and is expected to last (along with test server) for about 2-4~ weeks.
So Tibiantis start should be expected somewhere by the end of January.

We're also considering the host-localization. From the beginning only three were taken into account: France, Great Britian or North America east coast. Sadly there's no way to satisfy everyone, because the main factor for ping latency is always distance between client and the server. But we want to choose the optimal one.
Since the most interest comes from Europe, we are leaning towards European host now. This doesn't mean we forget about NA/SA players. We'd like to provide the best connection for them as well. Our research has shown that most of the traffic from NA/SA to Europe goes through GB and putting a server there instead of France may cut their ping by 10-30 ms.
If any SA/NA player would like to share his personal experience and routing observations feel free to msg me on priv here or in discord.

Another news is that Tibiantis will have its own fansite :)
Player Gubihe has declared his willing to create an erig-like site for Tibintis as a reliable source of information. We support the innitiative and will gladly help providing correct formulas for calculators. Although it should be always noted that fansites are made by players for players and do not represent the thought of administration.

More news coming soon :)

Never its a prank

We thought we would be able to start test server sooner, but were delayed by rl stuff mostly. So we could not fulfill the promise of starting TS before New Year's Eve, which we are sorry about.
Back on the track now though, and it's going to come real soon.

It's getting close. We are moving to the target's host this week, will post details soon :)

I see people saying how they miss the old times, but also complaining about low rate servers.

Old Tibia was all about low-mid level players. Almost everyone talking about how great the game used to be was below level 100 (probably below lvl 50) around 7.4.

The fun was about exploring the small details, obtaining small advantages, upgrading your set little by little. A sorc level 40 was respected, and a knight level 70 could run a guild and boss people around.

When you start to grind like a crazy little bitch all the way through level 100+, you skip all the precious details that make our memories so special.

So if you want to spam mf's and bomb the tombs like a f* retarded, don't tell you miss the good old days and want to play 7.4. I saw a so-called long term 7.4 server where people took level 100 in less than 20 days. F* lame.

About the "lack of time", back in the days we had plenty time but lil' knowledge about the game mechanics and tricks, which made our time less valuable. I bet I can make more playing 1 hour per day now than playing 6 hours a day 16 years ago.

People are just scared to take part in something hard they don't know how reliable it's. So keep the good work, I also support you guys.

Taking a step forward, I'd like to make a suggestion about (future) updates. It'll likely occur since at some point people get bored (100+) and need new content.

Instead of sprawling people around in new cities and distant islands, it would be great make better use of underrated areas.

For example, Kaz prison, Mount Sternum, Femor Hills (underground), Senja/Folda (underground), Shadowthorn (underground) are areas where you can expand content following a solid, reliable storyline.

Keep people close, facilitating communnity interaction and also providing excitement for those seeking something new.

That's a great advice, I couldn't agree more.
I would add, that the new area don't have to be spoiled on website with map or description. It can be even added with limited access and force people to find out how to get there. You can leave books/parchments as hints etc ;)

huckle guy i think admins somewhere said thats how they want to do it. but they dont play to make some fraction shit to get the access

I was actually thinking that the other day, imagine being some level 14 hunting on minos/trolls folda and u see some 100+ running around, it kinda gives u motivation, and yes the map should be kept as compact as possible to make interaction between players more common
But dont take away all the original stuff like monsters from kaz prison.
