CoronaVirus- What's your status?

Here in Western Canada (BC), everything not essential is closed. Booze, weed and food is available for delivery so we are just sitting out in our igloos (jk, we don't live in igloos). The outbreak is getting a lot worse here before it gets any better.

Although it gives me time to work on my new server.
BC too, many outdoors not giving a fuck xD

here in brazil, cases increase every day, as do deaths.
I have a brother who is a doctor and recently a co-worker of his has testified positive for the virus.

Now two more of his co-workers (both doctors), are suspected of having infected the virus as well, they are waiting for the results.

it is said here that the data released by the government may contain an error, as only those who have all symptoms are allowed to be tested. If you do not have all symptoms, it is not possible to get tested.

So we think that the contaminated here can be much bigger than what is being divulged, for this reason above.

Even today, some people in Brazil think it is just a mild flu, and people are still seen on the streets and on the beaches. Then the police started to remove people from the beach, making a kind of "sand rain".

Let's stay at home, with time things get better. We recovered the economy, life did not.

As previously stated our president (Mexico) is saying amulets will protect us so you can imagine how it's going to be in a few weeks.
Personally I'm doing quarentine because I have asthma so I'm in the risk zone.

Lots of non-essential things are open in BC. A lot of people lost their jobs, but a lot didn't. Construction is still going, stores are still open, even laundromats are surprisingly still open too.

In Poland all schools, universities and shops (except food, restaurants with delivery, pharmacies) are closed. Also some parts of hospitals are closed due to lack of staff or to prevent people coming in without serious reason. Everyone makes a buzz about staying at home if you dont need to go out. But everyday you can see elderly going to post office, shop or church at weekends. There were few interviews and old ppl say something like this:
I have survived Hitler, then Stalin and communism, so I dont care about any virus

With attitude like that we gonna suffer. But the good thing is that we have closed borders for invidual people.

That kind of attitude is not unique to Poland. It happens everywhere. Some people takes this very lightly - missinformation, low level of education/ignorance or just general lack of empathy for others.

If this were a virus that kills you but doesn't spread so easy I wouldn't mind but this people can potentially kill dozens without even knowing. It is rather sad.

Back in the day we had soldiers go to war and fight.

Now we have medics in the frontline, police departments keeping things in place or even lorry drivers, cashiers and many other unknown workers that on a normal day doesn't seem to be doing anything great but in todays reallity they keep the society up and running.

Hard times but we either go the same direction and fight all at once or fail at it.

Arizona (U.S.) here, all schools closed down, my work cut hours for everybody, most restaurants have closed dining rooms, stores are completely out of meat, non-perishables, paper towels, toilet paper, etc.
I wasn't expecting it to be so bad but when I went to the store the other day it was very real in how hard this virus is making people spooked and end up buying a ton of bullshit they don't need.
I hope the people who bought all the toilet paper get forced to eat it.
There are 25 cases in my county, ~250 in Arizona state-wide.

Where I'm at everything is mostly shut down. Basically grocery, delivery, drive thru, and "essentials". Anyways, I'm hiding, get everything delivered. Worried about my young son more than myself.

Update from Poland, starting from tomorrow 25.04:

  • you can go out only to work, shop or in a serious need;
  • in public transport only half of available seats;
  • ban on gatherings of more than two people, does not apply to family members;

Dunno if e.g. 2 people can go out for a walk in forest.

774 cases (it is said thats around 800 right now), 9 deaths, 1 recovered (probably gov will not inform about recoveries).

Going through the worse days now, lots of new infected and many deaths. All this new cases come from the very last days before quarentine started.

Despite all of that there is an slight change in the curve of new infected but that should be (hopefully) more clear to see during the next week.

A big part of new infections are medic/nurses, that just shows how easy this thing spreads and the lack of material for them to properly do their work.

Out of this topic. Theres a lot of talking here about the EU and it's total lack of management/leadership on this situation. Not only because of todays news (that alone could use its own topic) but for recent events such as Brexit, refugees crisis and the economical crisis. This might be the last nail in the coffin for the EU as we know it today, people is getting really tired of it and I can seel people that were really supportive of it turning sides.

I'm good, i'm living in Argentina now. Country is now in quarantine. Today bought some beers and food to keep editing my project (obviously respecting the calls of the government), and doing home office from monday to friday.

xoxo,

I just arrived from the UK to PL, the car journey lasted 25 hours. No problem on borders.
Just on polish border i write a 2 weeks quarantine details.

UK: I think coronavirus problem is ignored. They introduced restrictions too late.
Poland: Everybody stay at home, nobody outside. Just shops is opened.

here in UK the situation is terrible you get distanced for 2 meters of another peoples. generally my city is clear and no to much people around you and you should stay at home. The most companies gonna be closed until the crisis will ends. I don't know how long for this shit gonna be ended and afraid of my family and friends. you cant meet them not yet maybe after that. but by the way you have to self-isolation myself.

Make your minds quarentine should atleast last 4 weeks, it doesn't make any sense to go lower than that if virus can take up to 2 weeks to develop symptoms and most people spend around +10 days fighting it...

After 2 weeks of quarentine here, the new infections curve is clearly flattening now but the issue is the dead curve that will still increase for another week or so.

Starting tomorrow everything will stop here (almost everything was anyway but some people could still work) but now just the very very basic will remain active such us food, health care or telecommunications. Situation will go like this for 2 weeks atleast.

What scares me more right now is how some countries are taking this very lightly and I hope everything is okay for them but seeing how this virus works I'm afraid that the hit can be devastating.
