Suggestions for themes

When you are saying "OTLand staff don't support monthly contests very much", you are implying that GhostX doesn't as well, since he is a part of the staff.
Being a part of OTLand staff, includes participating in discussions. And that is just what we had - a discussion, nothing else. It does not mean that we didn't; approve, or; disapprove, or; show any discontent to the mapping competitions. We were merely having a discussion about whether or not to change the frequency of them.
We never told him to stop hosting them, he stopped himself. If you have complaints about the competitions, you can talk to him about hosting them again. Don't go on a rant that we don't support him when you don't know anything about it. We are all a team that works together and discusses things together. I have in fact shown him appreciation, but the role he has is voluntary, appreciation is not to be expected. Just as I don't expect him to show appreciation to me.

You shouldn't be talking for him, and you shouldn't talk about things you do not know of. If you want the competitions to be continued, then voice your opinion. Throwing a fit to make it look like the staff are going against another staff member, is not OK.

TL;DR
If GhostX shares the opinions you have and is feeling uneasy, then he can talk with us about it (as he's supposed to since he's a part of the staff). If you want him to host a competition again, then you should talk to him about it.
That's the end of this discussion.
I have said no single thing about somebody going against anyone. And I explicitly exluded GhostX from my statements which is why your first argument is simply "not clever" to bring up. Seems like you're just trying to shit talk the whole thing but all I said was that it doesn't feel like you guys support him very much. I stated it as my opinion in the second post, mentioned banners that were not updated for 2 months and never even tried to talk for him or in his matter. Idk even why you are taking it personal when I was just expressing to be hoping to see more monthly competitions soon. You keep up referring a discussion that I never mentioned or meant.

"role he has is voluntary, appreciation is not to be expected" - tell that to anyone out there working in voluntary jobs but nice to see your thoughts about that

"That's the end of this discussion. " - yeah then clear all the conversation instead of pleding to have the last words said to "win" a discussion. I apologize to have hurt your feelings if that is the case.
If you did not want to take this further, you could have simply hit me up in discord or pm in the first place to have a small chat instead of even starting a discussion.

Lets be honest here. If this was hosted like 5-10 years ago, this would be amazing. But Open Tibia/Tibia has been dying ever since.

Mapping had a peak like 5-7 years ago. Nowdays I rarely see anyone post in the mapping section. Maybe like 1-2 images a day is being posted. And I remember the days before the "Like" Button was implemented. People were commenting and giving their opinions and shit. But nowdays, people just press "Like".

Mapping doesn't have the same feeling as back then. Probably because people found other hobbies. And nobody gives a shit about mapping anymore, because it's not necessary for OT.

BUT.
Props to @GhostX for atleast trying to revive a dead section. Mapping had it's glory days. Now it's just a shadow of what it once were.

it's not dying (for now) and there will be a competition this month as I said they would return. I'll post the sign up thread tonight and we'll maintain the timeline so the May competition will run along side the voting thread to catchup.

Apologies for the delay - with everything that's going on, I've been somewhat distant in terms of posting on here but rest assured, the competitions are not being halted :)

Ok boomer.

People keep talking that Tibia/Open Tibia is dying but its on the same level for few years. I would even risk to say that its better than before (not only because of quarantines but because of rising popularity of Tibia on Youtube/Twitch during last ~5 years). Also people still do maps, scripts and graphics, but ye, the Like button decreased number of posts significantly.

Other thing is that Cipsoft changed their client so many people are stuck with older clients.

Literally this, the good ol' days are exactly that, days of old and I don't see it coming back to the state of what it was. Don't know exactly what caused the decline of it all but what I can say it was good while it lasted, people have grown up as @Neon said, I don't think most of the people getting into OT's nowadays have the interest of developing as they do for playing. Maybe if that was to change we'd see an increase in activities like mapping, maybe one day

This discussions, with og mappers remind me a lot of the good old days, thanks for that.

Also, on topic: maybe post apocalyptic city? Recently finished Adventure Time and there are some episodes when u see the origins of some characters, some of them go back to when there were still some structures of the now destroyed cities, would be cool to explore it maybe?

Idk if it was allready or not but still cool idea imo, what do u think?

I will do something with this Theme :).

New competition thread will be up today to kick off Season Two :)

Good luck all.

Bullshit!? ;) like last time you said today!

nah I’m just joking with you mate! I feel bad for your technical loss... rip maps :( :(

Maybe it’s time to dust of my computer that’s been turned off for the last 2-3 months depending on the theme ;) looking forward to a new contest ;)

Having fun, challenge yourself to make something amazing.
also some friendly “fights” with some friends ;)

to be fair, the prize is not a big deal, it’s mostly to encourage and motivate mappers and keeping the mapping part of the forum more active.
