Hello.

I have reported my thread in Tutorials section.

1606164532227.png
Contrary to what is written on screenshot, the report was not solved but rejected.
It is my will and intention to remove this topic, I do not agree to its further publication on this forum (Otland.net). The guide is written by me and I request its removal, if it is not possible to delete the entire thread (obviously it is) then I want to delete the content of my post containing this guide without harming the whole thread and discussion.

@Don Daniello @Mark

Why do you want to delete this?

That's none of our business, friend.
It is if it's gonna help someone. Imagine all the people deleting their resources off the forum or their support threads.
Its open source community, if you can't bear it, simply just don't post.

You can request to have your personal data erased in accordance to GDPR.
Let me know if you request a user deletion. I'll gladly help you out with that.

I'm not asking you, since you do not recognize copyright.

I was the one who locked your thread and ill gladly explain why.

The main reason is because neither you or any other poster broke any rules so there really is no reason for us to delete it.
We are an open community and we want to keep the things that are posted, thats one of the reasons you as a user cant edit posts unless you use the report function.

According to the GDPR we are allowed to keep the post as-is all we have to do is remove who posted it (replace op name with deleted user) and remove any personal information ex real / user name, emails etc

You are most likely angry for getting the warning you got earlier today and as Kaspar explained we can remove your account if you wish, either PM Don or a mod and we will make sure it gets done.

The GDPR has nothing to do with my request. I am the author of this tutorial and I am requesting its removal, as I do not consent to its publication any further. I'm not asking for removing my personal data, but my work.

Unless you have copyrighted your tutorial (may it be text or images) and you feel that we are violating that copyright we won't delete it.
As I said the best we can do is remove your personal information from that post / thread.

Oh and I forgot to respond to the "it was resolved" message, human mistake, I clicked the wrong button (they are next to eachother in the mod tool)

To clarify, you do have copyright over the content.
However, upon registration, you granted us with a non-exclusive, permanent, irrevocable, unlimited license to use, publish, or re-publish your content in connection with our service.

If you write in rules that every user gives you a kidney by registering, it does not mean that it is legal.

I'm not going to comment on the legality of this subject, but I did find that your thread was very informing and helpful. I'd also like to ask what makes you consider taking it down aside from private reasons. I do think that your thread should remain because it's supposed to be an open source community, as mentioned; Yet a lot of people are hiding their personal work. There's limited advice. A lot of toxicity instead of a community that should be working together. Coming to this forum feels like being an outcast in high school

We are in the right to keep your post. You cannot unpublish content.

Good luck, and good night.

All modern platforms let you review and delete any content you have ever shared. They could allow it here too. But on a dying forum, 10 year old threads are apparently more valuable than user rights.

I just don't understand people here. Like have I not been superkind to you and offered to talk if you ever would need someone to talk to? Where does this hate come from all of a sudden? Are you people mental? The forum is thriving. Check analytics.
And no, deleting content disrupt the forum's flow. We (very often by the way) accept people's request to delete their post(s)/thread(s). In this case though, we denied the user that possibility for many reasons -- and we have the right to do so.

Don't make his problem yours. You have plenty of issues yourself.
Work on them perhaps.

Read your post again and you will discover the source of so called "hate".

Btw I asked for this before, remove the content of a post, not the whole thread if you don't want to lose "1" number in thread statistics and few in posts.

@Don Daniello
Still waiting for your statement, I sent you PM but still without a response.

@wick3dr0se
Maybe think about writing yours, not stealing mine.

It makes no sense it would be removed from the forum though.. There is no personal data attached. He already deleted the photos. The thread was opened last month and it gives advice to a lot of newcomers that haven't ever mapped a city themselves. Why would you want to remove that? I literally can just repost the pasted version if it gets deleted...

I am so into the reason for the deletion request. If you think such a tutorial would make any real competition in the OTS world (or to your RA server) then you are wrong. It's a similar situation to reading programming tutorials or any good practices list - it won't make you a good programmer just like that. Of course, it shows the direction... But if anyone is open to the suggestions, is into the mapping, and practice, then I think the one would come to similar assumptions (but it will take more time).

The only ones who might be hurt by you deleting this thread are unfortunately ppl who want to start their journey with serious mapping. Think it over. If you are not forced by any subject above you (otherwise blink twice) to remove it, then I think it is worth keeping the tutorial with its full content.

Closing this thread, request is denied and the complaint has been noted.
