There really are people who do think like that, and its not just a couple. I was one of them. Heck, if it wasn't for the 7.4 sprite pack I would have never come back to Medivia. Now I don't care about the old graphics, but back then it was a really important factor for me to get interested in Medivia again.

I can understand that, I'm working to create a 7.4 server to the finest thing only to play it with my son. I enjoy killing rats on Rookgaard with him and try to get the Rook set again.
But I enjoy when someone moves away from that and I think we all need to move forward and create a "real" open source base to keep this game alive.
Great projects like the understated "open tibia sprite pack", tfs or OTCLient to move forward from RL Tibia map, sprites and client are the way to go.

medivia sucks nowadays. Game will die because those who ar eplaying are the ones who are looking for a server that doesnt reset and still looks a bit like old tibia. Istoped there when tyhey destroyed the srpites

I would say that the game will last much longer than any other "true nostalgic hardcore pure 7.4", but we can only guess for now.

I feel like a broken record player saying this all the time too:

let go of the old, get with the new
even the movie industry is finally learning that and have slowed production on massive amounts of reboots that were doomed to fail like many recent ones. Very few old things stay good.

I personally played medivia very long time ago. I stopped playing way before the new sprites/towns came (>5 years) and, surprisingly, my account and my characters still exist! This is the most important thing for me in a game. I like to play a game that I can return later without restarting from scratch like 99% of otservers. Also, I personally liked a lot their sprites, but I was too confused (all spells changed their names, etc) and without time (I'm an adult now haha) to play.

In my opinion, iryont was very smart to change his game's sprites, so he can't be sued by cipsoft.

Sure, but you don't have to make people spread weird rumours to gain notoriety. "I got sued by cipsoft and had to change my sprites and still succeeded" is a cooler story than "I wanted to change the sprites for the sake of changing sprites". I don't have a problem with changing sprites, but I just don't understand why would you spread such a stupid rumor when from what I heard from a few "VIP" personas of medivia, Iryont being sued by Cipsoft was never a thing.

I'm not saying they were sued, and I don't think they care, as they shouldn't, about what sounds cooler. Getting sued isn't cool.

Besides, they may have just wanted to take it in their own direction regardless.

So, the only problem with Medivia is that they changed the old sprites to a new ones...
If they release a 7.4 old sprite pack for the client, will all the players who left server come again to Medivia and their server will explode?

I think that you are nostalgic of an era, not with Medivia itself. 2004 will never return. Go ahead and play whatever you enjoy...
There are good 7.4 servers online and more on the way to release if you feel that you can only play that way, but let the free birds fly alone.

For sure it would explode. If he announce loud and clear that there was a 7.4 sprite version ppl would for sure come back. I know many people that really wants to play but just can’t do it with the way it looks now. Even if the sprites looks good individually, we Don’t want to play a Zezenia copy. The feeling isn’t there. And I played Medivia since Tibianic and I’m eager to play but just can’t like this.

Sincerely I can't uderstand. Also in case of a 7.4 sprite pack release, the whole game has changed...

I understand that you don't understand tbh, we are all different But with 7.4 sprites it would just be another Tibia OT with customizations, not a different game as it feels now

I wonder why 7.4 servers are almost all dead 2 or 3 weeks before opening. That's maybe the reason why Medivia it's still online?
I end here my thoughs on this thread, it is very interesting and I wil be reading all your opinions.

Tibiantis is still online and has more real players than Medivia without MC, 1+ year after release..
Medivia allows MC and I know for a fact ppl have runefarms there, also some people stay online on every server of Medivia to rune make and makes it look like Medivia has more players than it does.

And what about that? Tibiantis is a different project with different goals. Maybe the reason there is no old sprite pack avaible is that they want to move on - to be honest, 7.4 has its charm, but the sprites are ugly and boring.

This sounds like some of you guys knows better what should it looks like than experienced people that actually run the server. They made those changes for a purpose and you may dislike it, but that means youre not their target anymore, thats all.

Well I'm talking about statistics not only personal preference. It's beyond what you and me think as the servers are dying out slowly but surely. And it's definitely not due to lack of content, is it?
We didn't start to play Tibia/Medivia because we wanted flashy graphics that's for sure. And it's not about the graphics per se, I mean Saphron is a great artist. But it's about the feeling when you login of what you are playing. Tibia or Zezenia (for example) or any other game. It affect the players more than you think even though it's nice graphics

Yeah I feel the same. That's why I quit. The day they make it possible to use 7.4 sprites again is the day I'll return for sure.
