Advertising pioneer - town billboards

good waste of money
I think that too xD

Tibia is a hobby closely associated with the age of the players, so it is a small segment (and well known; You will most likely see the same player on several servers)

If someone did not play Tibia between 1996 to 2021, it is unlikely that they would be interested in the game (even, would I say from 1996 to 2007 ?, because Tibia changed a lot at 8.0)

Already around 2007 there was strong competition from Shooters (like Counter Strike) or other MMORPGs (like Ragnarok/ Mu /Lineage) with better graphics and technical demands that were not very high.

If I am a person X who is walking down the street, I will see your ad, I will find it beautiful but I do not think it catches my attention (Who writes down the web pages that one sees on the street? a photo or take a pencil / paper to write it your webpage/IP?)

The best Marketing option, in my opinion, is to take advantage of social networks that have matching engines (if you search for the word Tibia, these engines are in charge of showing you all the possible advertising associated with Tibia

And do you have to think that the OTserver universe has to be about 3,000 players?
That are distributed among all the servers and move in groups between them

The idea is to monopolize the interest to prevent them from leaving your server and growing more and more;
Rather than aim for new players to arrive, you should aim to retain your old players (the new player comes and goes; the old player will stay as long as they are interested in your game)

Could be effective if you're trying to sell nostalgia, the banner effectively communicates this, and it is located in the right place in the right country. I'm thinking Brazil and Poland exclusively, somewhere early 30yo's frequent. Maybe.
It'll be tough to measure its success though unfortunately, I guess you could compare against your other seasons player count data but that'd be about it.

I think this is a great idea and if you have the money to throw on it and not too worried about a loss. You don't need a pencil or have to take a photo because it isn't hard to remember wearedragons.net lol... believe it or not, websites have been on billboards for years and it has worked wonders. Some people may not know what tibia is, but I'm confident that if you have a custom client and make it easy on a new person to sign up and play without being familiar with ip-changers and all that jazz... you can definitely get some good players from this sort of advertisement in the right location. Especially a billboard in a mall or square where there is a magic the gathering store/tournament spot, pokestop, Gamestop, library, etc. That would be your best market to see this.

I mean wizards101 started out just like this and people and kids signed up. Who cares if they know about tibia, to them its something brand new and they can be a dragon in an RPG. as long as all they have to do is download the game and sign in... you can take it from there and make a tutorial to get them started in game or whatever.

I believe it would be harder to get players from the existing OT community, than from advertisement to brand new people with the right marketing and location.

Anyway this is a great idea and I hope it is already bringing in some interested players for you my friend.

I think that maybe getting new and fresh blood to Tibia is almost impossible, buuuuut todays youths can play games that have Tibias camera angle and pixelated games because of the Indie genre is really flowering up. Its getting more acceptable even for AAA games to go down to pixels instead of latest and best possible graphics.

Getting a sign like this, in the correct place( like close to schools ), could get new people to at least try to log in, if you make it easy enough to get started.

congratulations you probably found even worse way to advertise ur server than buying otserverlist banner and countdown and thats huge
