Never, seriously.

There is no way to check it. Only the server owner has this information. Of course, you can try to implement additional information in the game engine (such as a character's ip address), but it would be a violation of the player's privacy, and in addition, anyone knowing the basics of programming would be able to obtain the ip address of a specific person.

I also hope everyone understands that this doesn't guarantee anything anyway, as any server owner could spoof ip addresses.

The methods that are used by competing server lists (which are corrupt by the way) are downright brazen in my opinion. Asking the server owner for their players' ip addresses is to disrespect the player, if there is such a thing at all.

I'm sorry for the delays in working with otservers. We are doing our best. Thanks to the recently introduced solutions, we will be able to display a lot of previously unpublished information about servers and the player will be able to judge for himself whether the server is "legitimate".
