Just found this game the other day while browsing through GOG store and decided to give it a try since it was free anyway.

It's available for free on Steam and GOG

After creating your character and choosing the stats, class, origin etc you start out in an abandoned building in a medieval fantasy-like setting. You were left with a note from an unknown person that appears to be on your side and tells you that you forgot your memories and you should find a person named Meddock (iirc) in a nearby village. That's it. So, without any kind of (mini-)map you now set out to explore the world and find the nearby village. Before actually arriving at said village I took a detour and explored my surroundings a bit and the cool thing is that the world is really open for you to explore and rewards you for discovering it. Well, to be fair, I wandered a bit far off the path and was killed by some op monsters but that's not what I'm getting at. Even the second letter you get when you arrive in the first village tells you that it's up to you to follow the letters' directions and discover your true self (your memories were erased), or you can just become your "new" identity that was created to protect you and forget about your old life roaming the world as you please. It's all about looting, exploration, some quests, Oldschool elements that make things harder (at night you miss more arrows and while you can camp you can also be attacked by monsters during sleep if you don't choose a safe location). In the first village I tried to steal a priest's potion and he struck me down with like 2 thunder strikes lol. I managed to steal from a bartender though so, trial and error. Also, when you set your skillpoints when creating your char choose wisely. Of weapon skills I skilled bow a lot and 1 point in sword. First weapon was a short-blade and now I had weapon penalty and armor penalty because I am not skilled to wear it :p You can buy a map in the first village but it's not a "live" map. You just can use it for reference to guess where you are. Combat is tactical turn-based but not instanced or anything so you use the world and its' surroundings to your advantage. You also don't press "next turn" or smth like that. It all integrates really nice with the game and doesn't really feel turn based imho (not that I dislike turn-based games anyway).

Here are some screenshots attached (give it a try if you're bored). Feel free to post screenshots in case you play, too :)

Wondering if I should make a life thread about my progress in the game :D I might just do that in the screenshot section (if it still exists). Otherwhise perhaps even in here.

Neat game, I've been playin since I thumbed your post the other day. I'm enjoyin it! Tried to start as a caster type, could not figure it out very well. Been playin a rather simple hack and slash fella for now. I think I've made a mistake not taking light armor though. Cartography was also nice, could make my own maps along side purchasing a world map from the Inn helped.

Damn, I should check Otland more often. Didn't see this. I've also progressed a bit, but my last session's progress (1-2 hour ish) was kinda non-existent because I died in the dungeon haha :D So, I took the quest from the blacksmith in the first village who sends you in the wine cellar in that abandoned village you pass on your way to the first village. I took the quest because I remembered the wine cellar from the way there. Went there with 3 potions and lots of arrows. There were many traps and enmies though, and I also didn't bring enough torches, so in the end I died and now restored from last save in the first village, because my savegame files from within the dungeon didn't help as I simply didn't bring enough supplies.
Still, I enjoyed it a lot and will go there again with more supplies next time :D After all, we got 300gp in the village so... :p

Damn, cartography sounds useful. Crafting own maps, that is. And yeah, haha. I thought about starting a new char because I couldn't properly wear light armor haha.

Lol, my sword is still 2dmg. Need to catch up!

Will post again here. Glad you are enjoying the game! Have you had any progress meanwhile?

Was about to make a Tibia/Ultima inspired game with a gamemaking software with the help of the developers behind it. Ended up that they liked the idea so much they cut me out. I got pissed in lack of projects and finally got an idea so asked around. But if you're not a discord mod your words aren't worth anything -- and therefore I am now banned. Glad I did not buy their software before it happened lol.

Currently been experimenting with 2D ish (like Ultima player-view) in Unity (yeah...) to get some basic knownledge and experience. The goal is to make something inspiring from the favorite times I've had in Tibia when I think nostalgi. Good gameplay, perfect grinding, just killing time. And making servers or lobbys to play with others would even make it all funnier and more of a challenge.

Really cool pics you shared in your thread, I thought it was your project at first!! I was like 'Noo way' after seeing the similarities same split second. :)

I am trying to push my last OT server to release which I been doing solo since several months back. I hope to atleast get some players & get feedback, the dream would be that people have fun, enjoys the content and comes back next day where as hopefully an update awaits you.
Worst case scenario: It is so bad compared to the top devs on OpenTibia after all these years -- that it'll be trashtalked to death lmao. Atleast I learned a lot, and I mean a lot. So either way, was for sure worth it.

Experienced dev with 7.x? Interested in sharing a few words with you please cause I have couple questions. Just PM me here. Thank you.
