Hey there!

If you are reading this, I would love to wish you a great 2023! :)

Going to the topic, I don't have much knowledge when it comes to OTs so I would appreciate if somebody experienced enough can help me out with some doubts I have:
  • Which would be the most customizable/stable/complete client right now? (Free to use to avoid copyright infractions.)
  • How "Tibia versions" affect when you are trying to implement certain systems such as custom fishing/forge/alchemy? Does it really matter?
  • Based on my previous question, which "Tibia version" would be the most stable/complete right now?
  • Is Remere's Map editor still relevant? Does it allow you to import your own sprites? Is there any other map editor that is working better nowadays?
Please, remember that my knowledge in this area is close to none, so I trully appreciate that you're taking from your time to help me out. ^^

Thank you in advance and have a nice day!

  • Which free to use client do you think is the best nowadays? (To avoid legal problems)
You can use legally Mehah Client as base and TFS 1.4 as server but still sprites are intellectual property of cipsoft and their use is not legal.
If you want 100% legal server do what Medivia did.

  • What are the pros/cons of it?
The pros/cons of what, using a legitimate client? you have to invest a ton of time or money to prepare hundreds if not thousands of sprites, but at the end of the day you will have a fully legal server.

Hey Lukasz,

Thanks for your answer. I actually didn't know about that Client at all. Do you know any OT that is using this client at the moment? On the other hand, what I mean about the pros/cons is basically what good things do this clients have. Regarding the sprites/time/money, it will come, but I am more curious about the clients.

I will still wait for some other answers to see if somebody else has a different opinion, but thank you so much!

Your question is too open. The advantage of using otclient, or any of its branches (Mehah 1.0 or OtclientV8) is the fully customizable options, to the point that even players can customize it. Since you have the sources and part of it is scriptable there is no limitations (unlike Tibia client), some would argue that otclientV8 isn't that customizable since sources are sold.

Greetings Peonso,

You may be right. The issue here is that I'm a mere freshman so, it's possible that even the questions I'm trying to make are not the correct ones.

As I was talking with Lukaszml, if I am asking this here it's because I am starting to craft an idea to build a game but still don't know what would suit me the best. For example:
  • Which would be the most customizable/stable/complete client right now? (Free to use to avoid copyright infractions.)
  • How "Tibia versions" affect when you are trying to implement certain systems such as custom fishing/forge/alchemy? Does it really matter?
  • Based on my previous question, which "Tibia version" would be the most stable/complete right now?
  • Is Remere's Map editor still relevant? Does it allow you to import your own sprites? Is there any other map editor that is working better nowadays?
I'll be replacing this questions in the main post, so maybe now that they are not that open, people would be able to answer. In any case, if you have any question, please let me know so I can explain myself better.

Again, I trully appreciate everyone's time and effort to help me out with my doubts.

Kind regards,

Free: For stablity Mehah 1, for customization Mehah 2
Paid: for both OTCv8 but in my opinion it is too expensive. On otland you will find a leak from Q2 2022.

Typically, the newer the protocol, the easier it is to make customizations. Newer protocols may already have mechanisms you may need for your modifications.

Currently, the most stable engine is tfs 1.4.2 therefore 10.98.

Yes its still relevant, you can create your custom tibia.spr, tibia.dat.

I am bringing the golden shovel of necromancy here. Do you happen to know what are the tools used to customize .spr/dat? I have an "Object builder" from a few years ago when I tried to customize an 8.6 client and am kind of lost if it is enough or what else should I get

Hello! Sorry to butt in on the conversation, but I believe I'm on the same page as AdrianSkyzo; I don't understand why you say that otcv8 is paid, I've been using it to play in some ots and I never paid anything, is this version available for download on github the free version? GitHub - OTCv8/otclientv8: Clean, ready to use version of OTClientV8 - Alternative, highly optimized Tibia client (https://github.com/OTCv8/otclientv8)

I know we support TFS here, but my biggest question is CANARY or TFS... help!! ;)

Source code is paid.

These game clients also use the .dat and .spr format, and you can modify them with the same tools as a normal client.
Ottools with which you can do this are here:

as for server base i will argue that optimized_forgottenserver could be the best bet out there...
here is a link: GitHub - opentibiabr/optimized_forgottenserver: Optimized forgotten server made by @SaiyansKing (https://github.com/opentibiabr/optimized_forgottenserver)
i checked it and loading speeds and overall speed of the server is non comparabely better then any other tfs'es out there that project uses any means possible to optimize the server as much as possible so some things will be different but overall its a good base for server

as for client i will personally use mehah cause its constantly updated
