Hi all!
I recently got back into OT after a long hiatus. To share with the community I released my MyAAC template and a quick guide for running docker. After finding Gesiors guide about Oracle Cloud I recently set up a server with my old datapack i had running 2 years ago. Me and a few friends worked hard polishing that server but it never got popular. I'm all about 8.6 real maps, but I am curious about what the community wants. It would be fun to have a community driven server, where everything is decided by the players. And since it seems my Oracle instance is and will continue to be free it wont cost anything to run it except for the time I spend managing it and the domain name. For anyone interested I can post the server name, if it's allowed in this board.

Now, to the questions. What would you like to see in a 8.6 real map server?

Exp stage(s)?
Custom content? (Pyre etc.)
Donates? (Pay-to-win, decorative, stuff that mae life easier?)
Events?
Vanilla client, or OTClient based? Both?
Anything else?

If theres interest I would like to use polls to decide what the community wants.

Regards, jonasu I see a very interesting topic what you indicate about Oracle instances. But well apart from that it is always good that people come back to the community, and even more so with contributions as nice as a responsive layout for MyAAC, surely we will all appreciate it very much 🤗.

- Regarding what you say about the 8.60 server, well, I would say that the best thing would be to include new custom content, even with some new sprites that players like, and for 8.60 I would say that it is better to use both clients, although vanilla has the problem with the Stack greater than 10 - Apart from that I would say that something like Exp stage(s)? Mid - High Exp, that you don't get stuck in low levels very little, something like baiak but not too fast.

Donates? (Pay-to-win, decorative, stuff that mae life easier?)- 🤑

And of course even if a server is free (in the case of the host) it always has a lot of labor behind it, maybe some donation section something nice not so Pay-to-Win, you can place some regeneration items like boots and rings and maybe some items that considerably improve the defense without breaking the PVP but with help for PVE

Events?- 🥳

YES, You cannot miss the events in 8.60 Castle War, Last Man Standing, Capture the Flag, they are very fun and entertaining if you place them in a relatively short period of time with rewards that are not very large but fun, they can be decoration items for houses, some Gold Bars to buy in a special shop, some addon doll and from time to time some points for the players 😏.

I have nothing else to say.

Greetings and I hope to continue seeing your interesting contributions and discussions, and of course I will try to improve the use of the translator since everything is with a translator, I apologize for that 😅🥹.

Thanks for great input! :)

I do have another idea for a custom server I think would be really popular. Explain what you’d like to see instead of leaving snarky comments that doesnt contribute to the discussion

It's great to hear that you've gotten back into playing OT (Open Tibia) after a hiatus, and that you're interested in setting up a community-driven server. As for your questions, here are some things to consider:

  1. Experience stages: Some players enjoy faster leveling rates, while others prefer slower and more challenging ones. You could consider setting up different experience stages to cater to both types of players.
  2. Custom content: This can be a great way to differentiate your server from others. Consider adding unique quests, monsters, or items that players can't find elsewhere.
  3. Donations: It's important to strike a balance between offering players items and perks that enhance their gameplay experience, without creating a "pay-to-win" environment that discourages non-paying players. Offering decorative items or convenience features that don't provide a significant advantage can be a good compromise.
  4. Events: Hosting events can be a fun way to engage your community and keep things interesting. Consider setting up regular PvP tournaments, treasure hunts, or boss raids.
  5. Vanilla client vs OTClient: Both have their pros and cons. Vanilla client is more traditional and may appeal to players who prefer a classic experience, while OTClient offers more advanced features and customization options. Consider offering both and letting players choose which client they prefer.
Overall, it's important to keep in mind what the community wants and to make decisions based on their feedback. Polls can be a great way to gather input and make decisions together. Good luck with your server, and have fun!
Why are you using chatgpt to reply a thread that is asking for COMMUNITY feedback? Isn't it considered off-topic?

Exp stages: Mid, kinda depends on how much content you can provide.

Custom content: Yes, this is basically a must. A plain RL-map won't get you any players these days. There should also be custom items.

Donates: You should have donations, but they should be balanced in a way so they aren't blatantly pay-to-win. However, you still want to incentivize donations.

Events: Yeah, events are also a must to give players something else to do than hunt.

Client: I don't really see the point of using 8.6 client if you wanna use OTclient exclusively. There are huge crowds for 8.6 vanilla that want a good server to play. In my experience most players don't want to download a custom client to play, they are super lazy in that sense. I would highly recommend using the vanilla client because you have the option to play on OTclient if you like.

If you are going to do a poll, then do it on a Discord server or somewhere with actual players. Most ppl here haven't been playing for years. I see a big skew between asking ppl here about their opinions and what players actually want

OMG, I also tested my 5 minute text and it also qualified as an AI 🤖 --

if you want to have a debate create your own thread in Discussions. I'm just pointing this was obviously generated by chatgpt (similar to other responses from him in otland). I don't even need to test it to know because it obviously follows the same text structure from generated text.
There are some reasons why your text might be showing wrongly as qualified, one of the options is that you didn't read the basic rules saying the minimal amount of words or you are just straight up lying to try and defend your friend since you didn't showed me your prompt and a valid evidence this was indeed written by you to back up your claim.
Now, considering all experts in the world are using this API to validate and find LLM generated text, instead of taking your precious time to waste here at forum and try to invalidate my argument, write a paper disproving the multi billion company product. I'm sure all experts using and studying this would be surprised to know NvSo from Colombia can outsmart the latest technology trend.

Straying away from rl maps..
I had an idea where the server will be based on floors and the leveling will be slow-paced. To continue up a floor you need to defeat a boss and unlock some kind of portal. The content will be based around the latest tfs supported tibia version with original spells and monsters to save work but have some kind of twist that makes it interesting. You can move freely between floors with a magical elevator inside the city as soon as you unlock them. Should contain quests that span multiple floors and hidden easter eggs. Anime fans might recognize the pattern.

For example
Lvl 1-10 Floor 1
Lvl 11-20 Floor 2

I made a draft with a semi auto-generated map and some basic scripts for this functionality, not sure if i still have it on my server. Since i work full time I dont think i could handle that kind of work on my own, so I was thinking it should be all open source where the work is done collaboratively on github. Free for everyone to use or contribute to.

Does that sounds interesting?

Great idea about the polls! Can you point me to an english speaking discord?

Sounds boring + Keep in mind its tibia :D

deleted my post because people can't have fun celebrating personal chatGPT holyday, good luck with your server thought! and please don't make rl map, they suck

I kinda get what you mean. Probably needs tons of players to not seem deserted. What do you mean thats its tibia, could you elaborate?

people nowdays trying to create really unique stuff to tibia server which changes the overall concept of tibia which means we are playing a new game just with tibia sprites (if you ask me)
(prob the reason why most of those hardcore unique servers are 90% dead)
I like custom stuff ofc but it must be fused with the tibia standarts
I hope you understand what im trying to tell you

Sorry, I left most of them a year ago :/
You could still do a RL-map, there is for sure a crowd for that

I think there are a lot of rl map ots out there already. Go custom :)

Hmmm... I see your point, but I beg to disagree. In my opinion, it's just a matter of common sense. It's just that most of the creators (taking by the recent custom servers announcements that I've seen here) are just adding lots of custom stuff into their projects without questioning or thinking about a smart way to make it interact with the core concept of the project. They always look like a "patchwork" server.

Actually, I've been working on a custom project that changes a lot of the overall concept of tibia, and I can't wait to share it with the community so I can get some feedback. :)

The problem with going fully custom is the time it takes to make. On the other hand, you can make a semi-custom RL-map or evo and you will get the same amount if not even more players, for half the work. Players appreciate that kind of simplicity.
