Try a fresh copy of crymson and see if it crashes, then import the datapack without the items, see if it crashes. If it does it's probably something wrong with your map or GM commands. Regards Btw no message on console upon crash?

Import the map, change the temple id on the map, if the character is existing. If you're making a new character you have to change the new spawn position in config lua. I can help you out with all that if you let me help you on skype or something with direct chat, preferably microphone...

Not really, the stronger frost strike spells doesn't really do much in that level anyways. If you're REALLY rich you can always go grims, it's the best exp from level 40 to 150+. But it cost you a fortune.
