Custom Client Help

Hi I want to do a custom client for my server like change the background at the log in screen and stuff can someone tell me what program or programs i need to do all that, and what file the log in background is in.

Try to use a hex editor. Believe jester got a Tutorial about it, its a bit out of date tho. Could help you a little.
