When there is interest, learning is easy. Age doesn't really matter.
About him being serious is something I don't get though. I can't remember any post where he has been acting very mature or serious. The last couple of months of what I've seen from him has just been "4chan spamming".
 
To turn the question, how old do you think I am? Delirium (he said it like a page ago, but still)? Tala? Elf? Barker?

In the Norwegian forum diskusjon.no, there was a 9 year old that coded quit good in C++, THAT was impressive (can't talk for his English skills).
