Well, my Vista computer will not load the XP Pro disc.
I have been told I need drivers...and sadly cannot find them.

I have looked online, using google for about an hour, and nothing.

Anyone know where I can get these drivers?

Find out what you have inside the computer :P

exampel if you have a Nvidia 8800 then just goto Nvidias homepage and download the driver

upgrade to Windows 7.

I was thinking about that, but since it is new,
might be more problems than vista?
Truly I don't know if that is possible...

@Jocce,
I am pretty sure it has something to do with SATA drivers.
Not my "Video Card."

I've had Windows 7 since 2 or 3 months now and I haven't experienced a single issue with it.

You have to enter BIOS setup and change your SATA options. From ATA to something or from something to ATA. Dont really remember and dont feel like restarting now :P

If you are getting a Blue screen of death while trying to install..your BIOS is most likley set to use AHCI instead of SATA. Windows XP discs usually do not have AHCI drivers thus you will get a BSOD while trying to install. What you can do is look into slipstreaming a new OS installation disc and adding the AHCI drivers that work with your motherboard.

I thought it was a matter of drivers were missing,
that I could just download them from a website.
Is that possible? [If so, what site?!]

Dell wanted me to buy the drivers for $129.00, screw that.

It seems that SATA hard drives do not have the required drivers (?) to install windows XP? That annoys me a lot, for your information..
Anyway, the solution was simple. What you have to do is to disable your SATA somewhere in BIOS.
BIOS can usually be found when clicking F2 (F1-F12) when booting your computer. Look in the advanced menu, and search for SATA. Disable it somehow.
I do not know exactly how this look on everyone computers, so it's hard to give any precisely details.

Write for further help.
Good luck.

Get the fuck out of ur motherboard box and pick up a nice colored and full of advertisement CD, run it, install drivers, and enjoy. Hope it helps.
