eeee try adding different repositories? like some that are in the us or eu(which ever is closer to you).

it can be that or just that it's not available for 64-bit.

ok type in terminal:

sudo gedit etc/apt/sources.list
now scroll to the bottom of the list and add this:

in that same list find:

deb http://ar.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick main
and add a # before deb, it should look like this:

# deb http://ar.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick main
and save it, the # is to comment that line out, now type:

apt-get update
tell me if there are any errors.
