Exp problem

I was just hunting with a mate, me being 300 and him 305. We had exp share on and both of us are in green stamina so its 50% more exp for both of us yet he was receiving 10k exp from medusa while i was only receiving around 4.5k when we are both in same exp stage with happy hour and shared exp. Is there something im not seeing or is it actually bugged
