I'm not a fan of Anime, I've hated them.
However, when I was younger in the late 1990s, I did enjoy Dragonball Z.
The last anime episode I ever saw was the death of Cell in the Cell Saga.
 
a good old classic is Samurai X(Rourounin Kenshin), also Thunder Cats(Though an American Animation, but one of my favorites and now being done by Japanese Animation)
 
Inu yasha, death note, bleach and fma were interesting
But dbz is still the best i love the classic ones like medabots or digimon damn good childhood yo

I will partially agree with you, Naruto has an awesome story, but not the best. I've read shorter stories that are better than Naruto but those are on a different level and gender.

But if you really want to see a very good story, you need to watch Samurai X, and watch like this:
OVA 1 & 2 first, then watch the normal episodes, after you are done with the whole series, watch OVA 3 & 4.
WARNING: Prepare to pour yourself out!
 
One Piece. Better story than Bleach and Naruto. But has a very bad start which makes it hard to start to watch. I didn't like One Piece properly until I saw 40 - 50 episodes. But then epicness begin, and around eps 100+ I admitted I liked One Piece more than Naruto. And now Naruto is on a totally different lower league than One Piece. Because that's truly an awesome anime. I cant understand it took me 2 years before I was so bored that I decided to try out One Piece. Watching One Piece is the best anime experience I've had.
