Let's get these out of the way early:
- DO install Gentoo
- DON'T use wood-screws
- DO have drivers
Serious ones:
- DO make sure you have enough money to buy all your parts in one go, or you'll end up with some year-old parts and some brand new
- DO mount the motherboard properly before turning it on (DON'T FORGET TO USE THE DAMN MOTHERBOARD STAND-OFF'S)
- DO ground yourself
- Make sure you use Thermal PASTE, not Thermal GLUE
- DO use the brand you feel fits your needs best.
- DON'T use the brand that I blindly support.
- DON'T buy a case with up-mounted PSU
- DO slice your hand open on a nice sharp set of heatsink fins. An offering of blood helps appease the operating system install gods.
- DON'T fuck around with your man-pride. If you're not sure about something, read manuals & use google before going further!
