Lua Help with functions editing database!

Hi, I would like to know how to use the lua functions that can run queries in the database to make part of a script that for example would change a players death loss in the database. I know I need to use the db.executeQuery(query)function but I don't know how to use this or what query I should use.

Like this:

db.executeQuery("UPDATE `players` SET `loss_items` = 10 WHERE `id` = " .. getPlayerGUID(cid) .. ";")

There is not death loss in players table!
