How "fair" do you consider this payment? Would you consider it attractive?

How "fair" do you consider this payment? Would you consider it attractive?

In about 1-2 Months me and a couple of friends will found xyProductions and develope an indie Game. Either a 3d game with Unity or a 2D RPG :)
Since we do want some money for it but surely understand we can't charge immense sums like 50€, what we didn't intend anyway we have worked out some payment we consider very customer friendly and fairly priced:

Regular Price of finished product:
The game will cost 10$, which is small bucks acctually, considering we will be putting much time into it.
But now we also give you our game DRM Free and allow you to share the game with all your friends by copying it on a flashdrive and it won't cost you a dime :)
The only thing we do not allow you is to upload our game anywhere on the internet because then everybody would access it for free, not just your real friends :p

Early developement backup:
Should you consider our project great and we are still in early developement we offer you the possibility to buy us a pizza, basicly donating a minimum of 5$, and you will get access to all betas and tests aswell as to the finished product :)

I hope this kind of selling our product is considered good by you guys!
Looking forward to feedback :)
Regards,
Damon

COOL!
I love indie games :-)
Been programming alot myself in Unity3D

It's hard to compare to other indie's as i dont know what kind of indie you guys are making.
Most indie's i play are horrors or bit-graphic'd games, and these can easily be sold at 15-23€. So if you think the game you are
making is a great experience for the players and has a reasonable play-time you guys could go higher in purchase-value.
Alot of indies today also make a good sale on replay-value. (Look at the game time for Starbound, the experience and replay value)

Anyways...
A good marketting-plan lately is for people to be able to buy the game "cheaper before it's released".
This method works as a gamekicker. And when the game is finally released it usually cost 10-20% more.

This way you know;
  • how much attention your game is getting
  • If people are even interested in the project
  • Also a bit of economy to keep you floating.

So to answer the price of 10€. It's a great price! Just remember you have alot of opportunity when it comes to money making and marketting.
Who dont want cheap games anyways? :-)

Sorry my english, been using my primary language all day :P

Hello Faceless :)
Thanks for your awesome reply!
As of now we do not know wheter we will go for a 2D RPG(RPG Maker Game) or do a 3D Game with Unity, so needlessly to say we are not sure about the setting yet :P
I do love indie games aswell and that's why my friends and me will get our hands on developing one, soon.
We intend to offer an acceptable playtime however this depends on what game we are going to create.
Thanks also for the marketing hints, those are good ones and we will have a scripted store in our Homepage allowing such discounts at ease :D
Since we also got school work to do and therefor cannot offer the game our 100% dedication we will stick to the price of ~10€. Nothing too high. We want to offer a great game, however for low bucks and high quality :)
We want to be a developer team living with and for the community of our game and support it at any way. At instance we will take care of the YouTube issue and grant a official license to show our game on YouTube, so our fans can do whatever they feel like. YouTube strikes will be maintained by us within as soon as possible and we will remove that burden from you and your account!
The first 100€ we get by donations or selling won't go in our pockets but into paying the domain and webspace and aswell in buying a license for a forum software(probably WBB).
Regards,
Damon

what about kickstarting your project? by this you will really see if people are infact intrested in a game or not, also will help you begin noticed and gather some money.

Nope. If we failed we would have to payback all money. And that wouldnt work out since some licences/texturepacks cant be returned and therefor we wouldnt get the investwd money back. Now considering all of us are students(16/17 years old) we cannot afford paying the kickstarting money back out of our pocket.
