Hello there,
Surely alot of you guys know that I am working on the re-launch of VPS Unlimited which is atm scheduled for may 2016. In order to meet my customers expectations and thus guarantee an utmost possibility of satisfaction I am currently reworking pricing models, server packages etc.

Please take part in the Polls and/or tell me:

How much would you spend (average) on..

a) Game-/Voiceservers

b) VPS
(regardless if for OTS related projects or not)

c) Dedicated Servers

d) Webhosting

Kind regards,
Damon

For some peolpe, One of the most important things could be to get some help. Peolpe could pay more for stuff like that if you know what i mean.

Are you implying that "Support" is the factor some people value the most?

As for now I am working on creating a huuge knowledgebase allowing everyone to use their VPS to the fullest by using simple automatic install scripts. There will also be Live Support available. As for technical assistance or further indepth support I am currently working on a Premium Support System.

Hello,
I could share my experience with your questions. I think that majority of "startup" projects are looking for lowest prices on market.

1. Game servers - I can talk about CSGO Servers which I run in my country on my own dedicated servers but I can tell that regular price for 128tick 16-slot server could be around 10EUR/monthly

2. Voice/TeamSpeak server - this is strange situation since it is regulated by TS3 creators. As I see in my local hosting provider, they charge 10EUR/monthly for 50-slot server. I think it is better for everyone to get 512-slot NPL license and run it on some cheap (3-4EUR) VPS.

3. When I first started an OT, I've ordered dedicated server from Kimsufi (they had way more better offers in 2010 than now) which cost around 40EUR/monthly. Actually I pay around 100-120EUR - the hardware may be the same but the support/ddos protection/additional features are essential.

4. I cannot answer that question since I am not fan of webhosting due to its limitations to modern technologies for example running some websocket instance on own port, nosql database like Redis, Mongodb etc..I saw a lot of webhosters that are even stuck on MySQL 5.1

May I ask a stupid question?...... whats a VPS? :eek:
A virtual private server (VPS) is a virtual machine sold as a service by an Internet hosting service. A VPS runs its own copy of an operating system, and customers have superuser-level access to that operating system instance, so they can install almost any software that runs on that OS.

VPS - Virtual Private Server
Easily told - It is usually one dedicated server that's sharing resources with more private servers running on it. Every priavate server behave as standalone regular server.

Yes some peolpe would give more money for help. Personally myself i would pay even twice more for some good support.

Thanks for your feedback :) As far as TS3 servers are concerned I am also running my own one on a 2€/month VPS with 32 slots (I didnt get NPL due to the fact they were disabled then). So i would rather hel my customers setting up either the 32 slot version or NPL than offering actual TS hosting as such (will just offer a small vps fit for this purpose). For selling TS servers I also would need a license which is (and that information is from a friend who is a certified reseller) really not worth the shot.

The support is strong factor for me too, mainly if some hw failure occurs.

Actually I think that Open Tibia Servers could be run in VPS. The main point for OT is to run database instance on SSD since the OT is still synchronous and will need a lot of work to change it in the future. So it needs fast disk I/O for MySQL. I can imagine pre-installed containers with ssd partitin for mysql data and rest for system files, web, ot files etc...

@Damon

Hmm I've got NPL license about 2 months ago without problems. They just need to see if you have non-commercial website and verify the domain ownership.

I will definitly consider a premium support option aswell as making sure to offer hardware/software raids :)
As for pricing I am looking at 10€/month for a 8GB RAM SSHD 100mbits vps (12€ if pure SSD).

@robbydeath
Naturally most of the servers will come with a DDOS (basic) protection. As for further security measures I will consider this and Open tibia relared setups to be offered along with the premium support. Knowledgebase already includes iptables and fail2ban.
