I have been thinking about the ways tibia took recently.

Hello Guys.

In this text I will talk about some major things that happened, taking in otservlist & some Open tibia servers specially.

5-7 years ago Visiting otservlist was a pain. A diffrent pain then right now. Because the amount of High Quality servers with 100+ people online was so huge you actually had 20+ pages to look through.

Now it is a pain because the same servers have been on the 1. page for about a year now, with the diffrence that at the bottom of the page the server's online players is at 20.

We are letting go of trying to make this a better place.
I mean does anyone here even remember when Fallenheros ( oldest tibia custom ot still online, 100% custom) had 500 players online? i mean it is still running. it still has enourmus potential. What scares people off from playing it? It is the fact that we want challange. everyone wants challange. It is the small grid of " Easy - Boring," "Hard - funny" and " Hard - fuck this too hard im off". Everyone probably joined a server once, died without an aol and was like ah fuck this and xlogged. That was actually possible. and so what? no one cared. back to otservlist and find a new server. wile xlogging a server now comes with looking for a new server for 2 hours.

We have 20 realmap servers on the 1. page. As an example of what true insanity is :

A server called Deathzot is in the highscores with 100~ players online. Since octobre 8th, the server didnt get a update(beside a rule update.) one of the main contributers quit the server and the only thing the official owner does is help people get their donations going. Yet the server has 100 people online and obviously pays off for the owner.

Heroland. A server that went online 10 times in 5 months. everytime 200+ players. everytime 20-30 peopel complained about getting ripped off by the owner. yet otservlist allows this server to advertise on its page.

Back to deathzot. Synthetic worked 5 months on a server called " DeathzotInferno." The server was ment to be a war server that worked with the same characters you had on your Deathzot Account. Yet it was 2 diffrent servers with the same chars.

When he asked the otservlist owner if he could run both servers through 1 Ip he got told he would be permanently banned from otservlist.
DLDR: He would let someone advert on his page who scaams the fuck out of this community, YET someone who contributes fun to hundreds of players he threatened him to ban him from otservlist. Praise this guy.

Now to the people who want to make mony / yet have a custom server.

Do it. I mean. I dont mind. you spend tons of hours of work into it. you wanna make money? Do it. Just start working.

But this is not a realmap bash. this is a bash to the people who have datapacks of the most amazing servers, memories, hundreds of hours of fun. tears shed because I did die with red skull or whatever. just.. put it online. there is ways to run a server for 5$ a month. i mean. come on. let us have fun.

edit: feel free to message me if you want to find some nice servers to play. i got a few little diamonds that would be fun if more people played.

the core message (i obviously didnt clear it out, ) Was that I want people to keep working on their projects and stop going for the download and run race, that obviously is the masterrace atm.
 
There are plenty of people working on good servers like you said, and there will be a change soon I believe, otlist though is hard to get moved up without money, noone wants to put their stuff online when you are going to have to reset so much because of all the work still yet left to do, and seems like most the people with the unique ideas and dedication and skill to pull it off, don't have the time and the help to make things happen any faster...
 
this topic is tl;dr xDDDDDDDDD but yes we need more people working on custom and different things
 
Be patient friend, with TFS 1.0 and 1.1, i'm seeing many new and old devs building their own worlds, myself included. i believe there will be a high influx of incredible custom servers. just keep an eye out :D

most of them just try to do " too much ". I would love a server with some diablo aspects, hack and slay, and then some ubergood legendary, set items, very rare drops that cant be cavebotted and there you go? some fucking good server.

every server is catering for a specific type of people, your type (from my silly understanding) are those 99999x exp mass aoe servers that makes you jump a billion level in 15 mins XD

you can have a go at creating your own server tho :P as long as people see you try, you will be helped with ideas or coding or mapping.

heck, you can create a server solely for mini-games like team deathmatch, capture the flag, monster arenas, pvp tournaments, hunger games, last man standing, russian roulettes, prop hunts, and much more! no economy, no adventures, no exploring, just a hub city full of mini games to queue for, something very similiar to Gmod tower.

Nah man ! the exact opposite ! I lvoe low exp servers that grind up to level 300-500 after months of playing hahaha, just love this " luck" aspects very little amount of servers took in ! where this 1 item can just change everything- such as in diablo 3:D

One of the reason might be they completed a great project and they are earning money on the top list. Many of the people trying to do a project now desire money but lack the experience. When sinteria st was divided i stated working as a programmer and in the end i made this acc to keep up with ot land but actually this community is full of leeches. No one shares and they only want money. When WOT started OTs everyone helped and servers dint charged a penny.

Back then everyone also hosted servers on their computers, noone ddosed and most servers weren't even online 24/7. Dedicated servers is almost necessary these days and costs quite a bit of money and hence shops are pretty much a requirement too.
 
Tibianic Legacy was 2x, is over 3 years old and has no level 300, let alone multiple people.
I believe he means that there are over 300 people playing on Tibianic Spectrum, and this is true.

I'm not exactly sure but I think that there is usually around 400(?) people.

They were talking about levels, so he most likely ment level 300. But yeah the population of Tibianic is quite high because he gave the people what they wanted: a reliable 7.4 version to relive the nostalgia of the golden old days of Tibia.
