Ahhh .. looks like health and mana runes? Gonna be an EVO server? TP server? I think you shoud try it without auto borders, it makes it look kinda crappy IMO.

As a beginner, don't listen to all the experienced mappers. (A) Use the autoborder to map but try to make it non-squary to easily improve the map without much effort. You can pass on to RAW mapping if you decide to spend more time on the mapping aswell got the interest the make it pro.

Seriously, look in this thread; Try recreate some pieces using the Raw Materials, learn what goes where, learn how to border, learn how to detail.

I agree... but...
You should ofcourse check tutorials and later on map RAW, but as a total beginner, you also have the chose the amount of time that you are willing to spend aswell as how important it is for you to have a well done map. If thats not what you want to do from the start, then use autoborder and you can create a pretty nice map with it kinda fast. If you want to make a pro map, do exactly like they say and you will fastly improve and hopefully become a pro.
Otherwise, don't listen to the pros,(at the RAW stuff) they are mappers and they are pros, they wont like it until you show some hardcore stuff, so no, don't focus on RAW and perfection if you don't have that time or will. He mapped for 6 years and know much more then I do even if I can map as good as they can, (after working with OT since the first one came) just not that fast. 6 years against maybe 6 days, (or how long you mapped) thats a big difference. The pros will always hate autoborders, so will I, but everyone gotta start somewhere and at their own phase. Make a decision, then go in that direction.
So what was my purpose with all this? Don't drink and write on a forum at the same time, and use autoborder if your not aiming to become a direct pro at your first(?) server.
