Hey,

I will buy and build my new computer soon hopefully, and I'm thinking of installing a Linux OS, but I'm not sure which one I should use?
I'm still not sure that I will go for a Linux OS and not Windows, but what OS would suit me you think? Games like Cod/Hon/Tibia... etc should work fine.

(I know that Windows is the best OS for gaming, but I'm interested in Linux...)

Thanks in advance,
Crolly.

I'd say dual boot Debian & Windows or if you don't feel like dual booting; Windows/Debian with VirtualBox or whatever virtualization software you prefer.

Ubuntu is another popular choice, and it seems like the "status-quo" for new users, but last time I checked it was rather bloated for my taste.
(@up is assuming you'd want to at least compile otservers without putting too much effort into it.)

http://www.slackware.com/
is another cool one for when you're more experienced.

At the end of the day, it's all up to you and your needs. I've tested Gentoo, slackware, ArchLinux, Ubuntu, Debian (not as many as I'd like) and they're all great but we have to be honest, if you want gaming, Windows is a must. Not because Linux performance sucks (cuz it certainly doesn't), but mainly because of the drivers monopoly and other shenanigans.

If you want to play games forget Linux and just install Windows. It's a perfectly fine OS.

Will probably go with Windows, and install Debian/Ubuntu on my other PC to let it run a server :)
