Hello everyone :p

Lately I've been looking for a good server to play but since nobody seem to host one that fits me maybe I should try to make one myself. Won't be a really serious "project" since I dont have much experience in making ots but maybe Ill get to the point where I can host it or get someone to host it and if not I guess I'll learn some more in the meantime.

The first question is, what server should I use? I want to get a 7.6 feeling on a 8.0-8.42 client meaning you have to aim sds/uhs/mana fluids with the pointer and not by pressing a hotkey and also the spells from 7.6. Is there any certain server that has these things as options [yes/no] in the configs or is this something I have to edit in the server?

The reason I thought 8.0 might be a good client is because it has the old sprites for spells which would save me the trouble of getting a custom sprite. Maybe its easiser to get a 8.4+ server and then make a custom sprite for it?

Gonna look for some tutorials now and try to find a server, hope you can answer some of my questions here :) I'm looking forward to spread some reputation here :D

ps. If you have any tips that I didnt request please post them anyways, anything that can help me is appriciated :)

If you really want to create a 7.6 server using a 8.x client, I would suggest TFS, but you will have to edit a lot of things..

There is a version of Avesta around here on the forums, with all the 7.6 features (if I'm not wrong), but it uses the 7.6 client.

8.42 server, I could be the hoster :), Simpler won't it get.

Yeah but the problem with 7.6 is that it doesnt support directx9.

Not sure what is counts as 7.6 feature but the most important thing is that you have to aim runes with mouse pointer and edit the spells to 7.6 system (remove the newer spells and change mana usage to 7.6-style. Not sure if I can get the right formulas but thats for later). Did you have any other differences in mind?
