Heyo,

Haven't been mapping for a long while, but the nostalgia dragged me back. I've been working on a map for a couple hours and the surroundings can be crude and unrefined, but in general I feel something's missing.

There's no oomph, so I thought I'd post them here and ask for pointers!

I really hope puush is an acceptable link format, else I'll have to upload with imgur or something, they wouldn't let me put up more than 5 pictures.

Thanks a lot.

P.S.
I'm aware that some parts might be lacking space, but I'll leave that to viewers to decide as well.

Edit1: I forgot to add! This is meant to be for a 9.86 RPG server with low rates. It's meant to feel cozy and chill, so I'm hoping that comes across.

Basic and simple. Your detailing work needs improvement. Using the dark grass needs you to rethink the nature a bit to adapt it to the different colours it gives.
It's not bad, but it still needs improvement.

Thanks a lot for the response. I was sandwiched between dark or light green grass, but I settled with dark because I thought it looked a little better in the background. Should I switch after all? About details I'm worried that it gets too messy and ruins gameplay, but I do like detailed surroundings.

Adapt to different colors? The map editor only has so many different kind of dark green vegetation and I´m also pretty he´s trying to make a clean road, not an optical illusion.

Well then, first of all you don't know anything about mapping then ;p
secondly, listen to Mackan!

I'm not talking about optical illusion, I'm talking about using the vegetation differently. Neither was I talking about adding lots of details to the road.
There are many different ways to map nature, when using dark grass you should think about using the lighter trees, maybe have less grass tufts and use the flower ground (dark grass with flowers on it) as a detail rather than a random occurence.

So you're saying the map editor has an unlimited amount of that exact shade of dark-green? If you're gonna be a twat, atleast bring an actual fact or something similar to the table other than blind faith please.

Why would you ever want to use less grass tufts when you have plenty of spacing to have plain grass in the corners of the road and sides? The map also has plenty of flowers. I'm starting to doubt that you even looked at the screenshots.

And lighter trees with dark grass? Really? Now you're just subjecting this to your own personal opinion rather than from a natural mapping standpoint. I strongly suggest you stop these equivocal ramblings or give hard, marked-out examples of what you're trying to say.

I wasn't saying that at all, but there's a lot of things you can do to differentiate colors from one another.
Usually when I map I map with a particular color ambient in mind.
