What worries me the most is their influence on the community. People look up to them and their financial success. I fear the effects will spread onto someone like you, who's been trying to turn this wheel around with all his might.

🎵 The ring of gold is too strong it can't be broken. It needs to be returned to the fire.
They earn way more (I'd say 5 times more at least, maybe 10) and have more players too than Tibianic ever did. Of course money isn't everything, but Iryont also wanted to make his own game, which he finally has.

I have no idea where you even read that in my posts, when I only stated facts, not opinions.
You said that Tibianic (Medivia) was sinking. So how do you measure it if not by comparing the number of players and earnings while them still achieving the main goal? Nothing about whether I like it or not, I'm just judging it by THEIR goals. They obviously failed at keeping it oldschool Tibia, but that was NOT the point. Their goal was to make a new game of their idea and STOP being the clone of old Tibia, something you don't understand here though they made it very clear. The fact is also that most of you wouldn't play either way. I mean those constantly bringing up the "it's sinking! Tibianic was gold and they should have kept it like that!" argument. If you look 3 pages back even Iryont himself told you straight to go play Tibiantis if you prefer, as it's even better than Tibianic was, but you still won't because of 100 other "reasons". [the majority, not necessairly your person]
But it's not like I wasn't aware of this before. We knew the market but also had different goals, so Medivia's success has zero influence on us.

Exactly, but it's not just about business in my judgding. It's about being sastisfied with what you do, being honest about it and THEN earning money of it. As I said, I myself didn't like the direction Medivia turned, but they were honest about it, they are clearly sastisfied with it (hd sprites, new map and all of that) and then they earn way more. Nothing to blame for at this point. If you're worried about the "influance on the community" - blame those moneygrab servers that ONLY exist for taking your money, with zero interest of the admin who's gonna tell you anything just to sell it.

If you wanted my opinion @Handicap Ninja I can laugh at those changes (hotkeys etc.) with you, because it's totally not in my taste, but it doesn't change anything. It's a fact that they do better than in Tibianic times. And just because I see it doesn't mean we'll ever go the same way, because - again - our goal is to keep it old Tibia and we wouldn't be satisfied otherwise. Their goal wasn't and they made it clear.

So there's no point in bringing that "it's not old Tibia anymore!" argument over and over. Of course it's not old Tibia, cause they do NOT want old Tibia. You should now judge them on how well it goes with making it some new game and how playable it is, not by how much it resembles old Tibia. And no point in saying they are sinking, when they clearly aren't (like it or not).

Glad to hear, but since Medivia isn't old Tibia there's no point in comparing these two anymore. Tibiantis is surely better for old Tibia orthodox and everyone here, including Iryont, will tell you that; just as everyone, including myself, can tell Medivia is better for those seeking something fresh and new. Different goals, different target. If only everyone who complains on the lack of new things on Tibiantis moved to Medivia, and everyone who complains on the lack of oldschool on Medivia moved to Tibiantis... instead of expecting one to be the other :rolleyes:.
Btw I wasn't referring to your person, but in general, since people claim that Medivia would be better off if it stayed Tibianic.

problem is we're dealing with these 7.4 OT refugees that were spoiled with new tibia features for years before getting robbed of their core game because hosts like iryont been confusing players by scrambling with everybody's eggs xD

What hypocrisy do you mean? They said many times over the past years that they didn't care about oldschool Tibia anymore. It was many years ago when Iryont announced for the first time that he was going to slowly turn it into a new game of his idea. I very well remember those forum topics. They were actually pretty honest about it, you just didn't want to listen.


The earnings per player are incomparably higher for sure, but they have more players too. In fact, Tibianic was even less populated than Tibiantis (or similarly in its peak).

the numbers were inflated by venezuelan bot farms, once they brought out a decent antibot system the numbers declined.

No, they didn't. Unless you count those thousands of mcs they had back then.
Also, you have that classic sprite-pack available and nobody is using it, so... :)

and now they have legal one mc client and ppl can make runes on few servers at once 100% legal using two accounts

Yea, they can. Back then there were people who mced 50 chars at once though. The biggest farm I came across was about 90-100 chars of one guy, which alone made literally over 1/3 of online list on Spectrum at the time (and of course there were other farms online too).
The current numbers obviously aren't "real", because of the mc rule + multi-world as you said, but they are still way closer to real than in the past.

Mcing over multiple worlds was allowed ever since they opened the second world :) and in Tibianic times you could legally mc on one world too, cause the rule used to be about devices (so 2 comps = 2 chars). You didn't need to prem the makers, there were no runes in the store, and the rule-enforcement used to be much worse/less effective. The old client also used much less resources, so you were able to open many more (crucial for the big farms). As a result 10-15 chars farms were very common, plus sometimes you came across those huge ones.

There are basically three reasons why people tend to think Medivia/Tibianic used to have more players by several times:
  • less mcs, so the numbers are lower
  • community is spread over 5 worlds so each of them may feel emptier (as compared to when there was only 1 or 2 worlds)
  • they quit themselves and generalize their own case + wishful thinking ("I quit/don't play so it must be dying", pretty common argument)
But there's no actual data to cover that. We can't say for sure whether they have more or less real players than 3 years ago, or so. They might have had more at some point, but the difference can't be big, and for sure Medivia is nowhere close to dying.

I'm not defending anyone, just saying the way it is. I don't believe I could be pissing at my own door by doing that, since I rather have people play my server because they chose it consciously and see it worthy, than because they were lied about others.
Besides, you guys claim thousands of players quit and still mourn for Tibianic, so they now must be all waiting to join Tibiantis, nothing to worry about ;)

I confirm. I myself used to have around 20 makers (and i think kay can confirm because he killed some of my makers back then) with my friends we used to have around 50 makers or so. My makers were spreaded all over desert dungeon and the makers of my friends (Cronin, Lincoln Forty) were in all places in custom houses like stonehome houses, isle of the kings etc. And all that was both on legacy and spectrum so yeah, there were many other farms back then, even in the deeper of maze of souls. Damn if Space Monkey is around this forum (i hate that guy) he can confirm because he used to track and report all botters back then.

just another custom feature designed out of greed, like the dozens of hidden tunnels to stash makers and fake online numbers up to 2000 before xinn's new rule exposed it

A while ago we have decided to not show amount of players online on the worlds on main page, you can still check it here: https://medivia.online/community/online

Instead we decided its best to show how many UNIQUE players we have, it gives a better perspective on how alive Medivia truly is.
In the last 7 days we had 2681 unique players logged into the game.
