Squidy, you know as well as I do that I like your normal work, but this one was just a bit off. I loved the concept, that's for sure, however, the squiggly symbols on the navbar next to each link gets way too repetitive, it'd be better had it only been before and after each category, IF you wanted them in at all. Also, the navbar font size is the same as the main page text, and they have the same font.
Normally, this wouldn't be such a bad idea at all, except on the website, the text size overall could just be a bit smaller or just change the actual font. And now onto the inner background, i love the brown that you chose, however, the texture of it seems a bit amateurish. And by that, I don't mean it as an insult. Have you seen those websites for RPGs that have very bad textured graphics? And they seem to have a very bad texture to their brown on their homepage? That's what I mean.
The outer brown mixture (with the cut/slashes in it) was a perfect texture for brown. Even the brown shae on the outside was a lot better. Anyway, the other layouts I've seen kick ass, just this, fell a bit short for me.
