Greetings, I am currently working on reviving an old project that me and few rl started years ago, i am working on a "proof of concept" to make it online then starting some serious development phase. I would like to start recruiting a team so we could advance at a decent speed and have a release in reasonable time.
Client version: 8.61 (or we might switch to 8.54 for YATC compatibility)
Map: Custom
Exp Rate: 1x (more like, custom, since we might adjust many things that concern leveling, that rate will definitively not represent the real leveling feel
Before the wall of text, i would like to specify that we are extremely open with beginners, our only real request would be that you know what you wana do to help out, i dont mind that you know about this role or not much, as long as you are motivated to learn alot!
Another thing is that no matter your job, every staff members can give suggestion and their opinion about everything, we'll have a forum only for the staff so we can track development, and throw out ideas
We will also have some requirement about used software in development, mostly like, using as much of open source and multiplatform software, (like GIMP instead of photoshop) Just to make sure there's no compatibility issue, and also beacause, we all love open source software <3 Some exception might happend... but that will at the very least include some proof that you actualy paid the software (if we talk about a proprietary software) i do not want anyone working with stolen software (though, your Operating System is none of my business)
An overview of the server's main feature~~
We aim to have a good story, something that the players can actualy get an interest into, with npc having an actual interesting speech, and what not
Vocation are totally reworked, there will be some similarity, but we will fix the dumb thing as... a paladin beign an archer lol? and give the vocations much more of a D&D style (witch is pretty standard in video games) yet, it will not be a D&D full ripoff, dont be scared of it
We will include Races; Yes! you will not be limited to be a simple human! there will prolly not be any kind of fixed faction (unlike lets say, WoW) but we'll make sure that people have a point of helping their own race / hometown instead of going to the "OMGEPIXZOR" hunting spot
The experience rate will be pretty low, actualy, dont see it as a low rate... see it as we rework every numbers! as a simple EXAMPLE, a level 20 might not be that weak! (we will just not be the kind of server that people come only to see high number)
Once in release state, we plan to offer some serious support to the players, the kind of support you could expect from some of the best game developpers out there! (cipsoft is totally excluded when we talk about good support
) and we will definitively work out the server to actualy make it easy to give good and fair support.
There is no money income planned yet, we'll see about such things when we'll be near of the release. dont apply expecting any kind of money in the next months. (obiviously we'll accept donations early, but that'll only be used to pay the fee's of who are paying from their own pocket in the team to make the project alive, if over, it'll be keept safely for next months)
We are gonna have a very well organised team, structured development environment, as professional as we can
We are gonna have a datacenter dedicated server for the public (even before release) and a home dedicated server for the development testing
We expect to actualy make a new game on its own! not just a simple private server, witch involve reworking sprites to have legal data, and reworking YATC so we have our own client
We'll keep the client as multiplatform as possible (at the very least, linux, mac and windows)
We will work with one server version and we will stick to it until the end, we will not switch to the next svn or whatever, we will not follow tibia change, we will do our own.
And this is definitively not everything as i do not want to spoil everything yet!
We are gonna gather a full team, including but not limited to..
C++ Programmers to form a team for the client and server
LUA scripters
Maybe a Java programmer who could make a few app for the game management (customer support apps, and what not)
2d graphists
Mappers
Web Designer/Developper
Some kind of amateur Lawyer to help with disclaimer, source code licence, and what not
Few Game Masters who might also handle players support
Part time programmers who would only be in charge of testing and keep up to date builds for their favorite OS (prolly like only one per OS)
Draw Artist for some Artwork
A big list? well, i'd love a complete team!
