My suggestion is to only allow SQL-based server on this forum. When doing this people can only download good open tibia servers and not the crappy ones. Its also better to get support with it since most Sql servers are updated(XML not).

totally signed, this also would help stop the people saying "HEELP! my ot got hacked" lmao..
 
I don't think this is a good idea, it would be a lame rule. If anyone wants to use a server with XML as database storage method then let him/her do so, you're not the one who lose anything on it.

But most of them are "Newbies" so they think I download this because its download and run. We should sticky a nice tutorial on how to create a full working SQL server step-by-step "Newb" friendly.
When doing that they don't need xml anymore and can have more support since most of the people use SQL and know more about it that way.
 
SQLite is "download & run" too.
 
I think they do, only thing is that they don't know where the characters they create are stored.

I have nothing against more tutorials/information about it, feel free to write that, but there's no need to disallow servers which use XML as database storage method.
 
Instead of enforcing this rule you can as you said make a tutorial about it and really make it visible for newcomers or for people that doesn't know how to work with SQL-based servers. Like Talaturen said, this rule would be lame :<

Wasn't it for XML servers, I would never been here at all.

XML is a great server for starters, newbeginners to run without any other knowledges than open a document in text document.

From that they can look into the diffrent xml/lua files and start doing small things as changing text and values.

Then they jump to sqlite, and they learn to use a sqlite browser

Then they use mysql or stay with sqlite.
 
good ole xml days, it took forever to convert me to sql, i didnt like sqlite as much, w/ the sqlite database viewing programs ect. PHPMYADMIN FTW!
