OBS: if your server is not using the latest cvs code:
Use the same items.otb that your server uses, but you should know that new features might not work 100% anymore but the map will be able to load correctly.
Those having problems with loading their maps need to update their iomapotbm.cpp/iomapotbm.h files in their server to use the latest features

To load other maps without unloading the previous maps, like a merge feature, Example: player1 makes a mainland in the middle of the map, player2 says he has made a cool island, player1 loads up his map (File->Open...) then choose File->Import... selects player2 map to insert the island to his map.
