Sup, was wondering is there a way to protect sprites on a custom server? Sending everyone the custom client so they can play gives them all your graphic sources, obviosly... so is there a way to compress this or some way to protect them so is not that easy to ripoff the full item.. at least so they have to work for it, cleaning the snapshort and not juest gettin your full monter and item pack by using some dat editor??

Thanks, will rep++ for this.

Thanks guess it, but a dude keeps saying its possible but doesn't prove it so I'll go with my thoughts and your comment, not possible to protect the custom client sprite so that users can't steal the sprites. :thumbup:

Downloaded a client to play a server yesterday, it doesn't have the classic .dat and .spr extensions... it has something like .yiff (or something like that) in all extensions exept the .exe just the names of the files changed... is that some kind of compressor for clients files to protect them? or did this guy just changed the names and extensions and point them out hexing the .exe and woulnt doing this affect how the file works? Thats the only doubt I have about this metod.. Any ideas?

There is no way as you can always take a screen shot and copy the sprite from it.
When the user will be able to see it, he can get the sprite some how.
The only way is not to give it to him... but that is pointless.

Maby with HEX instead of getting the file from your local pc (Example:
"C://Tibia/tibia.spr"), you can add your own path (Example: "www.secret_domain.com/tibia.spr")

Idk if its possible but is an idea :D

Nice... and yes there is no 100% way to protect, snapshots will rip off mostly everything onscreen with a desent quality, but my main consern was the monster files, but you guys got me started with some interesting ideas so I think I try some of them out.

Thanks^_^
