Imagine a (optional, of course) proximity voice chat in game, with simple UI, meeting some people and being able to instantly talk to them. Curse and swear too, yes - but if you don't like it, you can simply turn it off, so there should be no problems. + sweet tibia-like UI for voice guild/party chats, wouldnt it be amazing? Imo proximity voice chats are simply the best features in mmorpg. Has anyone done it? Is there any open source to work on? The only thing I'm aware of is Imperianic OTS, and I've already contacted the guy behind it.
Soo... is anyone willing to colaborate and create something fun together?
Voice chat in Tibia is and always will be a gimmick. Would of been slightly more useful 15 years ago but majority of players still use(d) Teamspeak, and more recently, Discord.

Chemiann asked me about this on private chat. I told him, that some OTS tried this using TeamSpeak C++ library and players hated it.
It was added to popular (100+) OTS with 8.x protocol (as .dll to official Tibia client). In Tibia client - overlay displayed by .dll - you could disable microphone/speakers of voice chat. In tests 95+% players disable both.
It's like running current Tibia client. First things you click is to disable music in menu.
@XxhadesxX IDK how it's now, but 5 years ago C++ integration of 3rd party software was almost impossible with Mumble - officially supported, but API was sooo hard to implement. That's why OTS owner decided to use TeamSpeak server. It costs much for license, but 'it works'.

Well, majority of players don't use anything - and that thing could encourage some of them, to actually start talking, since it would be something different, ingame built ( I hate discord ) and proxy voice chat it just hits different... Of course, a lot (or most of) the players would not use it - but if it could be implemented not costing huge time/money resources, why not

Yeah, it's just the question of what would be the cost of creating (and perhaps maintaining?) such thing. In any games, where thousands of players are online, most of them don't talk to anyone, the second part uses external voice chats (discord/ts), and the last part, perhaps, uses the public one (on discord in most cases) I've spent some nights talking to total strangers, befriending them somehow, and it was like nothing else to experience in normal tibia gameplay - that's why I would love to have it, even for those very few players
