Quest npc for 8.54

Greetings OtLand.

I am currently playing a private server and I think that it would greatly benefit from an npc that offers quest especially vocation based quest. The problem is
neither I nor the servers owner has any knowledge of scripting and I was hoping that someone could offer me some tips or maybe a link that would give me some parameters and a how to for beginners so that at the very least i could attempt to write the script myself.

I couldn't find any NPC tutorials, but if you give an example of one of the NPCs I can explain some basic things.

i'm sorry i dont have an example handy my friend is the one that has the server i will have to contact him and see if he can send me one.

player: Hello
npc: Greetings stranger. Say i lost a ring around here could you find it for me?
Player: Yes
npc: Good! Return when you have it.

... later ...

Player: Hello
npc: Greetings! Did you find my ring?
Player: Yes
npc: Ah! Wonderful Here it's not much but this Gold should be a fine reward!
npc: "gives you 1000 gold"
