Question about mapping

I always used to map for fun and I had few servers and i edited their maps, but I never done it in high level.. I mean I dont know if my works was good.. anyway.. I learned a lot in forums about mapping..
and I decided to work on my own map.. a serious map (not for OT or anything.. for now its for fun) with work a lot on the npcs, quests and the map ofcourse..
but my main question is..
Where do i start? I draw my map, with the cities I want, with kind of areas and I dont know how to start.. I dont know.. and I need ur help..
I think this thing will help for a lot of people and for newcomers as well..

Yea but you need to remember that i'm newbie mapper.. and I think that before just starting mapping a town I need to do more stuff.. I guess..
anyway.. any tips?
 
Just start with a shape, and map whatever you feel for and place it out on the shape:) No need to create a city first, but it's recommended.
 
I think you should start with a temple, then depot, then some houses and them the main shops.. ;) Then if u want start maping nature and hunting grounds. ;)
