Question about XMP (RAM)

I have a question about the definition of XMP.

I recently received my motherboard and before I go onwards to purchase RAM I need to know something about this,
In the motherboards booklet for the Qualified Vendor List (QVL) it shows the Model #CMZ8GX3M2A1866C9(XMP), I am wondering as to what XMP is exactly since the site I am buying my core components from has the same model # but it doesn't state (XMP).

Does that mean it's not compatible with my Motherboard?
