Hello, I'm currently working on a project to get to know how the ot creation works. I've got a pretty solid foundation of knowledge regarding ot's. Although I have never taken the step further to get into scripting or working with compilated files. From what I've understood is that compilated files have less crash risk, is that a factor not to run an already compilated core?

Basicly what I was wondering is, how do I upgrade the 8.4 source files towards 8.6? From what I've understood is that you take the (0.3.6pl1) source code and you add code until you've reached 8.6 also from what I've been told is that compilated code has less crash risk when the server has been up and running for a while. What are the pro's and do they outweight running an already compiled version from someone else? Is it right? In that case where do I as a beginner start looking for information regarding this. I bet there are lots of people sitting on the knowledge and people wanting help. Therefore I create this thread.

Hopefully we skip people commenting "This is too hard, drop it!". If I consider it too hard when I look at it that's fine.
