After the last Update 2013-07-18, "No Rest For The Wicked" I presume that a few players haven't met the new Drefia yet, so I'm pretty sure they got doubts to know if they can tame Gravedigger without completing quest or not, so the answer is you can tame it without having started or done the quest.

Let's get started! NOTE: I will put only mini maps in this tutorial so it would be easy for you to find out them!
As you can see here I marked 2 caves, you can enter in any of them. I will start from the north one and there's only one:

You can also find many of them in Grim Reaper's cave, Drefia but still it's dangerous for low level so please, be careful!
