Tomorrow, April 15th, 2011 I will be participating in a 24 hour vow of silence, in which time no communication, not even nodding or shaking your head can be used. This is a protest against bullying and harassment, specifically towards gays, lesbians, bisexuals and trans-gender people of all ages. I would like to promote this to the rest of the community and ask anyone who is willing to join in this vow of silence.

i think this is wrong, silence just makes harrasers, bulliers, etc, more powerfull.
I think we should speak, bad grammar tho

surely you should speak out against bullying, hehe. gl anyway xd

lolek u must have posted 10 seconds b4 me kanakashy

Well explain your reasoning... Because when you respond to a bully, that's what they aim for. They want a reaction. Not getting one diminishes their efforts.

What I meant is what Jimmeptrequests' wrote:

We should speak out againsts them as in sueing them, talk to the police, never stay silenced, etc. You're just stating what was your point of view that was how it's going to be the reaction if I talked to them.

Well, we all should start bodyslamming then, right?

Well this isn't a solo event. It's an event organized by a group called True Colours GSA (gay-straight alliance) at my school, which I'm a member of. It's a school-wide event that allows students to take a stand, together. One person not talking won't even get attention, but probably 1/5 of the school's population will be doing this, and it's a big school-wide statement basically.

This is the sort of thing that happens when people act out alone, rather than together. That student was harassed for a long time and he had nobody behind him. The videotaper was more than likely on the bully's side and thought it was funny, till the bully got pwned of course.

Im a little dissapointed though because this bullying law had to came a long time ago, not now when goverment realized what they had done all this generations.

Well I suppose it's better late than never. Just glad that there's people who support a good cause. Trolls like Tenhum don't matter here, but it's good to see that there are still people who care and wanna make a difference.

A lot of the reasoning is awareness. People don't see how serious bullying is and worse, victims don't see how many people are willing to stand up against it and so it continues and becomes more severe often to the point of depression and even suicide because the victims just snap. Similar to the video a few posts up, the victim can only take so much and the end result of their retaliation is usually a lot worse, resulting in suicide as I mentioned before and in some cases, serious injury or death for the bully depending on how the victim acts out. Creating awareness for the bully, victim and the by-standers is a huge step in moving towards a solution.

I'm off to bed now, so i won't be on tomorrow. If anyone would like to join in on this, please do try. It basically starts when you wake up tomorrow and ends 24 hours later.

See all of you on Saturday.

Ofcourse do people see what bullying does and how serious it is but these people that *stand up*, do you really think that even 1% is actually going to help someone when they see him getting bullied?
They will just stand by and watch him getting bullied rather than helping him, stand the fuck up for yourself and do something about it, noone else is going to do it for you, shit i also got bullied in my life but i stood up for myself and fought back and since than has noone bullied me anymore.
Stuff like this wont help at all, do you think bullys give a fuck about this? No they will keep bullieing until someone stops them, easy as that.
And i dont mean running into a shool and going crazy, i mean punching them in the face when they team up on you, yeah you will get hit but they wont harm you the next time when they know that atleast one of them is going to get a bloody nose.

There is the awareness but people are scared to do somthing about it, thats the problem.

You need to stand up to bullies. You can't just let them push you around.

That just didnt made any sence sharp :p
Or if it did, than i didnt got it.

People are willing to stand up? Idk how it is in other countries but I live in the USA and that's complete bullshit....i got jumped on monday by three black kids in the morning at the bus center cuz i didnt give one of them a cigarette...there were like 20 people at my bus stop alone and nobody bothered to do or say anything....the only way to deal with these assholes is to kick their asses until they learn their lesson..
